So both Dario and Scott now out among others, pfft now Danica will probably win!

Not happy.

How they can crash before the corner I don't know.

Dario was flipped about 30 feet in the air flipping at 230mph then hit upside down.

He squeezed Wheldon I think.

Worst accident pretty much ever!

Nasty crash.

7 cars left, AGR 1-2-3 at the moment - strange result maybe.

Could be Marco's or Danica's day.

Dario was traveling about 210 mph (338 km/h) when he went upside-down and when he came down on his lid he was still going about 130 (209 km/h). He walked away. A real tribute to how well these cars are built.

7 Cars left - all 3 AGR other than Dario, both RLR's, Rice, and Kosuke

Dixon may come back out. As long as he finishes 2 laps he will finish 8th and gets better points

Yeah, but Vision have beaten him to that as they've fixed Foyt first.

Nice move Hornish, pipped Dixon for 9th. Doth think he will catch Foyt though . Foyt 19 laps down Hornish is 36 laps down.

Who would have picked this finish

A great race - mainly up until the major incident anyway - now it's a little bit like a left overs thing, but still, we've had some great racing today. Nice way to end the day considering F1 earlier.

God damn it, I missed the race, had to go to work. Hope there's a replay somewhere tonight.

Just watched the crash replay on indycar.com Frucking scary stuff. I'm kinda glad I knew all the guys were okay before I saw that.

Did Scott get any points in the end?

Dont knnow what happened with the points Dario is still showing a 24 point advantage

1. Dario Franchitti 494
2. Scott Dixon 470
3. Tony Kanaan 413
4. Dan Wheldon 375
5. Sam Hornish Jr. 367

Looks like Dario and Scott both ended up with 20 points out of it. Dario got 3 for leading most laps I assume.

The result has kept TK remotely in contention though. Wheldon's chances seem to have completely evaporated though.

Brilliant race! Thank you Hazard for sticking with it with me in the chatroom.

We only had the online footage, so im not too sure whos fault that crash was, but like they both seem to have said, it looks like just a racing incident.

Fantastic wheel to wheel racing, showed F1 up. At least both title people were involved in that crash (not meaning to sound bad) But it will keep it close, and Dario still has an advantage.

Well done Kanaan for keeping out of trouble and holding off Marco

Bring on next week

Seems to me I was the only one who didn't like that race. Bare in mind I only watched the first 20 laps then tuned in again on the wedsite to watch 130 onwards... I didn't see the early stuff but after that very long caution and just 7 or 8 cars running and Kanaan just glued to the white line I don't like the way these guys currently race. This has been the case in IRL for a while and even in Champ Car at Las Vegas when they have too much d/f and just stick to the white line holding the inside. Each to their own but I find that boring and frustrating. i thought as the track would be green there would be more side-by-side racing...

Well I am off to go see Montoya vs Andretti 2000 at Michigan 500 now that was a battle.

Did not see the race due to the delay, but did see the clip on YouTube.

Amazingly strong cars and thankfully Dario was not seriously injured.

It was a pretty stand-up sort of thing to do for Hornish to get out and pitch in...

Just finished wataching the replay, great race. Really drives home what a loss the track will be... although I guess the danger factor won't be missed by the drivers' friends and families!

Seriously luke, how do you manage to miss all the great side-by-side action in the race? You should really try and find a replay.

All up Dixon should count himself lucky for the points chase, he was set to lose quite a bundle to Dario today with the way they were running. Bit of a stuff up by Ganassi letting Hornish sneak past though. Hope he doesn't lose the championship by one point!

Dario was class above everyone - but I'm sure he's just happy to still be in one piece.

Barely injured at all. The crash looked like Dan's fault, so it's ironic that Dixon was eliminated as well. Seeing the guys repair the car just to complete a couple of slow laps was quite cool. Great finish to the race, with Marco so close to hitting Tony so often, and a few guys getting season-high results.

Another great run by Danica as well, what was she, third when the big one happened? It could quite easily have worked out for a win for her after that in a number of ways, but the chips just didn't fall her way...

Bloody scary. Think Dario should have a word with NHL for 2008...
