aawwww sweet.
Sorry Rob you have done well this year but as you can expect I want Darwin Smith to win. He came into the Junior Formula Ford championship with us and within weeks of his 18th birthday was winning. He is a very talented driver who is determined to become a professional at the top of his formula. He has been struggling all season for money and has had to run without new sets of tyres at many event, he even saves up his wages to get new sets. If you ever meet him you automatically think 'hey this guy is gonna be an F1 driver'. He isnt so arrogant that he sticks his nose up at everyone, he is very down to earth, but he does know he is good. All he needs is the money, winning the award would mean that he would have half the budget for next season in Senior Formula Ford as well as attracting attention of sponsors, F1 teams and managers. I know Rob is great and a very determined driver and would deserve the award if he won it but I believe Darwin deserves it more and is more likely to make it to F1. So heres me starting the support Darwin Smith campaign. |

If Darwin is nominated, then shouldn't Mr Clucas be nominated too?? Not sure that either Ben or Darwin have done enough this year to jump ahead of some of the FRenault guys like Green, Hamilton etc. I like both Ben and Darwin but am not sure either of them has done a 'Kane' to dominate the series to make it an obvious choice. Just my 2 cents.

i agree with andym, neither has totally dominated. but then again, neither's jamie green or anyone for that matter...
back on the shameless darwin smith promotion trail, he really showed he's got driving talent at oulton. one lap on the track before qualifying and a short 10 lap practice session and he was on the pace straight away. clucas had an advantage because he has tested there, but darwin got it back straight away. and that overtaking move to get 2nd was brilliant stuff. it is a shame adam carrol can't be nominated, but hopefully he'll be rewarded some other way for his good performance. Yes, i think that Smith and Clucas have done very well, the emphasis only seems to be on single seater drivers, surely it cant be a line up of drivers from the same championship, the top lads/lasses from each series should be up for it. When I first started single seater racing at 19 years old, with only 2 years of club karting behind me, i jumped straight in to The Slick 50 Formula Ford Championship 2000, for my first taste of car racing and was a middle runner, if on the other hand I would have done the junior series I would have been a super star! I dont see any of the Formula Ford Championships being a strong bed of talent this year, and most of the guys who are wining the senior series this year have been in it for many years any way, and I do believe If it wasn't for me having a bad accident last year I would be in it now and be wining races! Ahh if you could only turn back the clock! lol! But good luck to all the drivers who are nominated! VOTE FOR ROB! YEY! and yes Carrol would have had a good chance!

You are a very close second, but I have more loyaties to my drivers. Why dont you drive for us and you would get double the support for being Yorkshire and one of our drivers.

Always nice to see our fellow members doing well! Did you say you were at Thruxton this weekend? If you are what times your race as I may pop along on the Sunday depending on what time I finish at the kart track! |

The idea of the Autosport award is to try and pick a driver who's going to get to F1. I think that if the judges think a driver will run out of talent or money before they get there, they won't let them win. It's all about who seems to have momentum in their career. That's why I think Kane won last year instead of Kerr, because Kerr had had funding problems in the past, and wasn't going into F3 with either Carlin or Manor, so wasn't expected to do as well as he has this year. Kane, though, was lined up for a Works Van Diemen drive at the time, so appeared to have a good chance of winning in FFord this year.

Yeah Mackmot that would be a way around the issue! lol
Thanks Paulzino, yeah we are at Thruxton pop in and say hi if you have time we can have a cuppa! your vote would be appreciated! cheers Rob I see, I think that just to get to the finals is a good acheivement for any driver, the things you will learn the people you will meet and the publiscity you will get are all good! so thats my aim, anything else will be a bonus! but i do fancy the F1 test! |
