Fine, what if Kelly want 15-16-17 then?

There really should be seperate numbers for the two series, plus better tv etc, so the development chaps are a main event in their own right. Somehow the development winner is not a champion carrying the #1, the winning driver or team in other junior series gets to carry a #1???

SBR with 4 and 9, 8 and 14 etc is funny but nevermind who should get priority in swapping numbers then?

1-2 winner & team-mate
3-4 SBR
5-6 FPR
7-8 KRT
9-10 BJR
11 LDR
12 TDR
14-15 KRT
16 RNR
17-18 DJR
19-20 WR
21-22 HRT
etc?

it's all a bit arbitrary anyway?

F1 rank the numbers on the teams finishing order from the previous year. That'd solve it for you!

The system we have now is fine. So what if they can't have numbers in a sequence. Sure, it'd be nice, and you could only ask, but if they (SRT) say no, then tough cookies!

Its not like the number 19 has any meaning to webb, in this case.

888- Obvious marketing reasons with 888 (and wasn't it smart of BJR to run 888 originally and sell it to 888?)
51- Murph's number, I suppose it worked when there was 51 and 15 at Kmart.
111- Tribute to Mark Porter.
021- NZ phone code.

At the end of the day, does it really affect people's viewing pleasure what numbers are glued to the cars?

This is what an F1 inspired numbering system might look like in 2010. #1 goes to the 2009 drivers champion and #2 goes to his team mate. The rest of the system is based on the 2009 teams championship. Some adjustments have been made due to some RECs changing hands and being grouped to the larger teams they are attached to. The two Tasman RECs going to TDR and LDM respectively are situated down the bottom as they are new teams. TDR granted the lower number as the TDR “operation” has been around longer than LDM. Which driver gets the lower number within each team is based on their 2009 drivers championship placing.

For a causual fan that would be confusing year to year.

F1 works as you dont see the number anyway. Its so damn tiny.

To Colin, thanks for clearing up the Morris' numbers, still don't like it but.

Slightly off topic but is still related to the cars livery

Establishing a bit of tradition is always good with numbers. Think of how closely associated Brock was with 05 or Johnson with 17. Moving to a switching number scheme would remove this.

I still miss seeing Ferrari F1's getting around around with Villeneuve's 27 and Pironi's 28.....

Mr Muphy's new car.

Seems a number of sponsors that were with Tasman have gone with Mr Muphy. Strange there's no sponsors linking to SuperCheap Auto.

given the quote from the Murphy chat on stuff.co.nz that Russell will be in another Castrol car, it could mean the end of Supercheap with PMM?

or perhaps there was some miscommunication from the media
