Yeah, it's long in the tooth but GT cup is at the 'club' end of the GT ladder so 'Godzilla' is still a very handy bit of kit to have (and certainly has a lot more character than the Merc).

Maybe a class for Older GT3 cars would have been sensible because it wasn't very fair having it run against the latest Evo cars.

GT Cup was originally intended for retired GT cars I think.

I think GT Cup is perfect for the older models of GT cars, but I think they do a great job of welcoming those kinds of cars as it is (Chamberlain's Porsche!!) and at the end of the day a certain amount of it will be driven by what the teams/drivers want.

Many guys racing in the Gt Cup upper classes these days are looking to springboard into British GT or European GT racing. It makes sense for them to be running more up to date machinery in that regard

I think there should definitely always be a place in GT Cup for old spec GT3's, and any other novelties. It was great to see the MP4-12c Can Am on a few outings last year, always nice to see something a little different and this is the series to allow that

29 cars announced so far, I think a top end of 34-36 would be the right top limit for the series, so many different car speeds that it can get messy with more.

Its getting to the point that dropping the GTO and GTB cars might be the best option. quality of the grid this year is pretty impressive

I agree in principle those classes dont make as much sense anymore, but are part of what makes the series different to British GT.

I think you will see a very nature disappearance of those classes anyway over the coming years, as the cars get older, and replacement options increasingly only conform to GT3, GT4 or GT Cup variants.

I’d rather they started turning away GT4s. The oddities and Cup cars are great for variety, without which it would be (as Bcarr says) just like British GT.

As an aside, interesting there’s no Porsches in the Cup class.

One class that has already seemingly disappeared is Group GTA which was for lower spec cars such as the Ginetta G55 Supercup. Reasoning being everyone has either upgraded or moved to GT4.

I have been told there will be a total of 7 cars in GTC, I definitely know of another Lamborghini that’s signed,
I like the mix of cars in GT Cup but it’s getting harder for the old cars to get paying drivers.

Lets not get sloppy with that list I carefully compiled Farmer Yellow!!

2x Paddock GT4's confirmed for GTH, which are probably the final announcements except for the Formula Woman entries....

GT Cup releasing full entry list on monday

A whopping 8 570s GT4's in GTH, and 4 720s GT3's, a rather solid show for Mclaren indeed.
