It was so very easy. We've got a four computer lan set up here with broadband running through a router. We're with BT Broadband which is about 128k I think but I can't be sure. Basically I just plug my network cable from the back of the xbox into the same slot I put my computer network cable in, in the wall. I simply went into the game supplied with the starter pack and followed the sceens through. In game it runs no different to the single player, even with 8 people and of cause you can chat to all of them live using the supplied headset. It really is superb!

Ok,Just got Live today. One word. Awesome.
Raven, It's fairly easy to setup, you just stick a live disc in, click play on live, and if you haven't got an account, the xbox takes you too the account setup screen, where you put in your details (uses the same setup as if you were to record a cd onto the box, with the onscreen keypad etc). I'm running mine through BT broadband, although this is linked up to a router, as myself and one of my housemates use pc's. If you go for ADSL broadband (ie a BT setup) then it comes down the phoneline, so no need for a seperate cable. There are a number of Xbox Live services out there i belive, you'll just have to hunt around and see which suits best (that is of course if your in a broadband area) With regards to connection speeds, mine usually shows up 512 kb download, 256 upload (using pc). The connection on live seems really good, and it runs really well, desn't seem to be much lag on the voice chat either. Anyway hope it helps Ed (PS my Gamertag is Try Hard 555, and damon i added you to my friends list) |

Thanks for the feedback Damon & Try Hard. Sounds too good to miss out on. I'll let you know if/when I'm hooked up live, and maybe we can get together and have a race sometime.

Way superb, just got off, been playing since about 9... 3 hours solid!
Really cool being able to talk to each other, the headset may look stupid, but its a bloody good idea, and works really well. PLUS I'm better at this than gpl... beat damon a few times Ed |

Has anyone got Live working through a Broadband supplier other than BT? I'm thinking about signing up for Tiscali's 150K Broadband and I'd like to know if this will work ok (also for stuff like GPL etc on my PC)

Spudgun, ta for that. FWIW I've just bought ProjGoth2 for my brother for chrimble and I couldn't resist giving it a quick test drive. I don't want him to have it now! Guess I'll have to cough up for another copy.

yeah, but is well worth it if you consider that I'm £30 a month of broadband....
Best is to get the headset as well, some of the ribbing that goes on can be highly amusing... and will make you want to join in! ed |

BTW, I had some guys be very nice last night, and let me win at nubrugring, so i now have that track
and only 20,000 kodus to go until live rank 8... I think i'm a long way off the 22 rank i have seen though! Last edited by Try Hard; 18 Dec 2003 at 15:33. |

So let me get this straight. You have to unlock the tracks on Live mode by winning the races?
I'm struggling on the main mode now. I'm up to rank 43 and it is another 70,000 points until the next rank. I've got all silver medals, and I am not going over the challenges AGAIN! |

thats the easyst way to get tracks. some people will even let you win a race at the ring if you dont already have it unlocked
you can also unlock tracks from completing various challenges in arcade mode. i also dislike the way kudos are awarded. if i win a race, why am i not geting the full race winnings? the best reason to go for gold/platinum is the clk-gtr and speed 12. the speed 12 is t3h sweetness |
