The engine cover looks a bit too cluttered for me. I'm not sure if I like the livery or not... hmm...

Does a decrease in BMW signage, and increase in Petrobras signage indicate that Petrobras won the bidding war, and Pizzonia will be the second driver ?
I would have thought Petrobras would have decreased, or maintained the previous level of sponsorship if Heidfeld was the chosen driver, not increased it. |

Unless they're buying Petrobras off and consoling them by giving them more space on the car.

I might not come down to drivers.
FW might look at it this way. I have two talented drivers, now how can i make the most money to give my team the best chance of winning ? I am pretty sure there would have been a bidding war between Petrobras adding sponsorship to Williams, and BMW adding sponsorship/discounting engine bill. The livery shows a decrease in BMW signage, and an increase in Petrobras signage.. so go figure really ! I have a feeling Pizza boy might get a seat on the back of Petrobras. |

So you're suggesting that there was a bidding war and Petrobras won, so Frank gave them their choice of driver AND more signage?!?!
Geez, they must have upped their cash input! If there was a bidding war (which I doubt), I agree with Logrence and think that the increased Petrobas signage is a consolation prize. Last edited by mac; 7 Jan 2005 at 02:20. |

Williams don't pay for engines, so BMW don't have a bill to discount. |

To put some figures on this, from the 2004 team budget figures I have. 2004 spend on Williams F1 BMW $95M (engine supply R&D - non-cash) plus $30M in cash sponsorship - total $125M Petrobras - $2M (product supply non cash) plus $3M cash - total spend $5M I think it very unlikely that Petrobras will have upped their total investment in Williams to match or exceed BMW, they may well have increased their cash element that has bought them more space on the car. It will be decided on driver performance IMO, however if they are evenly matched BMW's preference for NH plus AP's previous form alongside Webber will hand the drive to Nick. All NH has to do is at least match Pizzonia in all area's and the drive is his IMO. |

pics from Bahrain. Looking at the 2005 v 2004 livery the increase/decrease in space is between Castrol and Petrobras who have swapped places on the car. Castrol look to have reduced their involvement and have moved to the space Petrobras had on the rear wing endplate, whilst Petrobras now occupy Castrol's 2004 area. There is no pic of the car from the back.. does it still say "BMW MPower" on the rear of the rear wing?

Oh, and I was hoping there might at least be a bumper sticker with 'my other car's a Ferrari' on there instead.

what does everyone think of the "Muscle" race suit . I say that cause the white on the arm look bagger than the rest of the arm/sleeve
I think the car paint job look great nearly the best ever under the BMW guise also Webber towers over Nick and Pizza |

seems weird seeing webber not wearing a jag race suit.
and the paint job though similar to last year, somehow looks a bit better. |

weird - its brilliant, the stuff that Aussie F1 dream are made off IMHO Heidfeld will and should get the job becuase IMHO he is a better driver than Pizza Boy and the combo of Webber/Heidfeld looks very good! IF Pizza Boy does get it, us aussies will be rubbing their hands togetehr with glee as Mark will blow him away!!!! Webber/Heidfeld combo will be more competitive!!!!!!!!!!! As for the car, its looks quite good |

Mark's is tight, but I'm sure Trinny and Susannah would say that the other two haven't got the figure for it.
