I know mondello was not the centre of all racing but haven been brought up in ireland i only know about irish racing from when i was a kid ,there is 3 davrian imps in the south of ireland that i know of ,1 in kent,1 in holland, and these are all proper davrian floor pan cars ,the problem with these cars is that some were made with no chassis numbers ,but as i said earlier the register knows of 12 with chassis numbers .The spaceframe car 1 of which david hall had which was burnt in a garage fire ,well there could have been loads of them who knows

I know nothing of Davrian history since the heady days of 1967/69. Adrian had a partner [Business] David ? here memory fails, the Dav part of the company, he also had a 'partner', a girl of oriental extraction, whom I heard he later married. A good friend of mine a stone mason by trade Eddie Jukes worked for the company laying up glass fibre producing body parts for Davrians and replacement panels for Jaguar E's and Mk11 saloons, the reason much remembered Albert Betts had MK11 front wings on his MK1 saloon, as did yours truly. Alberts car was in the hands of Don Law, have to check if he still has the car. Is David still amongst the quick ?

Well i have made contact with Martyn Morgan Jones and he tells me that to date there are 12 known cars ,and Tim Duffee thinks there was as many as 17 cars made so at least now we know all that needed now is to work out how many survive

Thank you, yes he did have an interest in things nautical, and the last I heard he was domiciled in the West Country, Cornwall? a long tome ago though. 65 North St no longer exists so Mark Konig informed me, block of flats no sense of history these planners.

When I had my garage business in Barnet in the 70's there was a guy who had a workshop around the corner that had one with an Imp engine that he had turbocharged and this was the early days of turbocharging so had spent a fortune developing it only for it to promptly banned from ModSports(?), I remember him being very angry about it, can't remember his name for the life of me, he had a partner in the business called Tom??

2 more davrian imps race at silverstone 1 car for Richard "Rupert" Long replacing his Wallinger space frame car and another for fred hendy in same livery as Homewoods car. This car is space frame NOT davrian floor pan car cannot recall Longs car this is why the davrian listing i think has 13 cars built 13 bodies supplied but think only 3 or 4 floor pan cars built Homewood was the first customer |

AS aug 10 p43 photo 2nd outing of Jim McGaughays Imp looks like davrian body but entered as Greetham Imp
off top of my head i recall at lydden circa 79 80 81 ish Brain Davies with Davrian bodied Imp 1300 bda Steve Holland tube frame 850 imp ( poss fred hendy car) Not sure if this car then went to the Williams Brothers Glynn & Trevor Brian Leonard 1220cc Imp motor enetred as Raylen Imp John Homewoods 77 built car was later raced by Rob Mason 79? then Simon Sabel 80 then Terry Mitchell who crashed it at Lydden |

Jim McGaughays car was a davrian floor he probably ran a greetham engine ,and yes fred hendys imp was a spacefram ,if you go on the imp club site there is 15 pages on special saloons in motorsport section ,No the davrians that the club know of all have glass floors and chassis numbers ,it is possible driftwood that you may well know a lot about special saloons and all manner of 70s/80s racing and you only remember the cars that you seen race and so you belive there was only 4 proper davrian imps made but im more incline to go with the davrian register on this one

seen the site so many imps raced hard to recall all after 30 years!
i have many pics of cars 79-84 ish don GT wendy wools will still argue that the davrian list is NOT glass floor cars only ever saw 2 cars in the flesh so did 10 live in garages or hillclimb? saw more maguire Imps racing than glass floor davrians await the davrian list being published with first owners then i will go to the kitchen and bake that humble pie and you can gloat and bring me the ingredients! |

Great thread guys. Love hearing this info....
I would think Col's figure is closer to the amount produced. I have two 'glass floored and bodied Davrian Saloons here in Ireland, Maurice Cullen has one, there is another one (at least) in Northern Ireland, Heniz Pffefier (sp?) has one in Belgium, I think Rob Knox has one (Col?) Thats is 6, plus Homewoods car which was written off would be 7.... Interestingly enough, I was speaking to David Hall recently and he says that both he and Homewood comissioned the first two cars together and were involved in designing the shape. I am not sure which car ran first but I am almost sure Hall's 1220 car ran towards the end of '76..... Also, Hall apparently travelled to Brands in either '77 or '78 and broke the up to 1300cc lap record. Anyone got any info on this? |

Sorry to butt-in, but a few days ago looking at these threads I clicked on a site all about spaceframe Imps. I cannot find it again!
Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Found it! www.theimpclub.co.uk Last edited by 911thillclimber; 14 Feb 2010 at 08:16. |

the many photos posted do not list who the car owners are and i do not recognise many of the cars/struggle to recall the names of car owners who where not "winners" i need to dig out my race photos ( mostly 1979 onto 85 ish) to scan and give to the Imp club for hosting

If you could, that would be great. Myself or Col will post them, or you can do so yourself? You seem to have loads of Imp information!

If so does it read DIS/7/016 and maurice would have 047 2 cars where built with BDA 1 for Brian davies other for Barrogil Angus anyone heard of a transverse engine car possibly mini powered? |

Davrian going strong in Italy
Davrians enjoy a new life in Italy. In 2014 two MK VII will be racing the trofeo Peroni "velocitÃ* auto storiche".
Another MK V racer will join in May/June. There are other 4 cars being rebuilt at this moment! Last race of the 2013 season in Imola Marco Malaguti started first in grid (up to 1999cc) and he was going strong when he was hit in the back at the Acque Minerali and he was obliged to retire |
