My thoughts exactly. After all he only took part in 5 of the 58 laps, hence missed more than 91% of the race.

Six are 1-1 and four are 2-0. Nothing yet to hint at anything other than random.
It won’t end up like that... |

Team mate battle results for the race after round two.
Mercedes: Lewis Hamilton - 1 Mercedes: Valtteri Bottas - 1 Ferrari: Sebastian Vettel - 2 Ferrari: Kimi Raikkonen - 0 Red Bull: Daniel Ricciardo - 1 Red Bull: Max Verstappen - 0 Force India: Sergio Perez - 1 Force India: Esteban Ocon - 1 Williams: Lance Stroll - 2 Williams: Sergey Sirotkin - 0 Renault: Nico Hulkenberg - 2 Renault: Carlos Sainz Jnr - 0 Toro Rosso: Pierre Gasly - 1 Toro Rosso: Brendon Hartley - 1 Haas: Romain Grosjean - 0 Haas: Kevin Magnussen - 1 McLaren: Fernando Alonso - 2 McLaren: Stoffel Vandoorne - 0 Sauber: Marcus Ericsson - 1 Sauber: Charles Leclerc - 1 Both Haas' DNF in Oz render a 0-0 draw, as does RBR this week. After being outqualified by Bottas, and aside from one very good overtake, where will an underwhelming Hamilton sit in the F1 Power Rankings? Ocon did well against Perez, needs to continue this trend to get Merc's long-term attention. On the right track. Hulk again had the measure of Sainz - thought Carlos would be closer but only very early stages of the season. Gasly pantsed Hartley. Vettel and Bourdais style. The star of the weekend. KMag looks to be in a very good space and is finally showing what he's made of. Grosjean having one of those off weekends he has from time to time. Alonso taking care of Stoffel, but Stoff showing he is a very solid peddler. Ericsson took care of Leclerc, who made a costly mistake in quali but redeemed himself with a solid drive. Excellent showing by Ericsson to get into the points and finish ahead of plenty. Max looking ragged on track at the moment, while Dan is looking a tad frustrated off track. He would have been right in the podium fight had he finished the race, shame. |

Alonso did get just a bit lucky to beat Stoffel in qualifying this time around.
Q1 he ended up 15th with exactly the same time as Grosjean in 16th, whose lap came later and with an error. If Grosjean was someone else, Alonso wouldn't have made it through. |

Isn't it funny how just a couple of weeks ago people were questioning why Ericsson was even in the top ten ranked drivers of the Australian GP. Now some even voting for him as the driver of the day!!

Just for you confused people, I was referring to posts #25 and #27 of this thread (and also elsewhere) where people were questioning why Ericsson was even in the top ten rated drivers from the Australian GP. Even though he did only a few laps at the Aus GP, he drove well enough in those few laps to earn a spot in the top ten ranked drivers (9th), ahead of Vettel in 10th.
But don't worry, I haven't changed my mind on Ericsson just because of his 9th place finish in Bahrain (). I'm not a fan of Ericsson. I still firmly believe he's spot on the grid is unworthy, and it is only because of his links with the Swedish owners of Sauber that he is still on the grid. He should've been dumped end of 2016. End of 2017 definitely. It has been what.. almost 50 GP's since he scored a point? The 2015 Italian GP was his last venture into the points if I'm not mistaken. Not good enough. In my opinion. He also performed well enough against his teammates in 2016/17 to indicate to the bigger teams that Nasr and Wehrlein weren't good enough for better drives.

So you don't think he deserves to be on the grid - but is in the top ten of drivers? |

You mean Ericsson who has won a FBMW UK championship, British F3 races, the Japanese F3 title and GP2 races. The male version of Carmen Jorda? Leave it out!
