Congrats to Colton Herta, his first win since the 2022 GMR Grand Prix at IMS.

Race Result

A 1, 2 podium finish for Andretti Global. The last time was at Long Beach in 2023, when Kyle Kirkwood won and Romain Grosjean was 2nd. Followed by three of the CGR cars and David Malukas rounding out the top 6 for MSR.

After his epic journey from Nice, Theo Pourchaire finished a respectable 14th, with English Rookie driver Toby Sowery in 15th

Team Penske weren't helped by Will Power causing avoidable contact and putting team mate Scotty Mac into the wall, bringing out the 4th yellow. Up until then, they had all three cars in top 10. In the end Josef Newgarden was their best finisher, 12th. This didn't help Chevrolet either, who only had 2 finishers in the top 10, as Honda took the first 6 places.

Shocking seeimg two cars launched like that. Thankfully all involved were ok.

Pato seemed really shaken... he also questioned the stewards not bringing a yellow out immediately after he had hit the wall.
I thought he said they are able to do this within 5 seconds of an impact.
However it would still have been very tricky for the field to avoid him and Ericsson's cars around a blind corner?

It was always going to be tricky with the nature of the corner and people trying to come up to speed on a restart. Could have gone FCY early sure, but I think they may have been waiting to see if he could get refired. But given the dangerous position maybe that wasn't good.

I didn't have TV but was following on Live Timing and it took an age before it went Red Flag. Just a bunch of 'Contact's so I assumed a big one, and I was right.
But the question about the speed of the flag bearers and the red flag response is valid.
If the red can only be shown from the start finish line that may explain the on track response but not the race control one.
Ideally every flag post should have a red flag and be in contact with race control.
So if a red flag is called every flag post can display it.

What is at the forefront, in the aftermath of the Turn 1 crash, is where was the yellow? As this article from Racer says: ''With multiple drivers firing into and over the No. 5 at unabated speed, some asked why rapid warning signs—in the form of the EM Marshaling panels being lit in yellow, or the yellow caution lights on their steering wheels—weren’t present before most of the crashing was complete.''

The interview with PatO - "were you a sitting duck?" WTF kind of question is that? Then PatO's response blaming IndyCar for getting hit. Don't spin on your own, pal.

Fugly race with some decent green running and good street racing, but yea. Not the best.

Hey Kyle! It's okay. You can get a little closer on restarts, to make it at least look like you're trying to challenge your teammate. Geez.

And Will Power doing Will Power things. Good and bad.
