Some sanity at last. I'm all for improving driving standards, but picking on (the wrong) Schuey for that was silly and the punishment was far too severe. A fine (quite a big one by FIa standards on individual driers isn't it?) seems more fitting for this particular faux pas.

Roll on the rest of the season.

This didn't appear to be more than a racing incident to me - there was no deliberate act that I was aware of - so I'm glad he hasn't been penalised 10 places - there have been far worse things happen in the past that have gone totally unpunished - consistency not there as usual.
Do you think the team will pay the fine or make the driver pay it ?
Bearing in mind it is Frank and Patrick - I suppose it has to be the latter !

I think it was a fair decision giving Ralf a fine rather than relegate him on the grid as there have been far worse incidents let go in previous years.

I agree with this, but I also think that just because someone got away with something worse doesn't mean that another incident shouldn't receive a penalty. This is just a general statement rather than anything specific towards Ralf.

I read about this yesterday and haven't been back to refresh my memory. However the report I read at www.grandprix.com implied that Kimi had steered towards the right, where Rubens and Ralf were and taken no action to avoid the accident, and it was possible that there was room to go to the left. It was further alledged I think, that McLaren were reluctant for Kimi to appear at the hearing the implication being they were worried abiout the evidence.

Presumably it may be reasonable to draw the conclusion that Mimi was coming from behind, he would be looking forward and therefore was better placed to see what the drivers in fornt of hm were doing.

When Ralf (rather slowly) swerved to the left, Kimi was already alongside Rubens!

I'm in no way saying that because someone got away with something noone else should ever be punished, the point i was attempting to make is that i don't believe they should pull this form of punishment out when they feel like it. I'd rather them get the teams & drivers together at the start of the year & say this is the punishment you'll receive if found guilty of dangerous driving & stick to that punishment regardless whether it's Michael Schumacher or Jos Verstappen, that way noone will have anything to whinge about.

It seems a little stupid to me that Ralf wasnt penalised (not that) but the fact that Kimi has come under fire now.

How they can find Kimi at fault by saying that he could have used up the grass on the side of the side of the track, whilst they dont penalise Ralf for not using up the TRACK!

although i doubt Kimi will lose the 10 positions, it just seems odd

EDIT: And yes, as Jetsetter said, the teams shouldnt be able to get their lawyers into court, and should just take the punishment, as it is given.

I totally agree with this.

In part F1 is lacking here because there are (still) different people involved in each race. To a certain extent it has been decided, but perhaps not well enough, or thought into some of the detail is missing. Maybe a more concerted effort for next year that learns from some of the things that happen in the past? For now we are stuck with what we have got.
