Might actually come down and watch the BRX this year for the first time in a while. Be nice a Derek Tohill and the Irish guys come over too sprinkled with a few Europeans. See A few Europeans will be using Lydden as a shakedown.

I feel a bit for Dan, I do understand the need to get into a supercar quickly.

but the track record of LD is not very good when it comes to customer cars, the only one that ever did much was the Bakkerud car that he is supposed to be driving.

Even Liams equipment has been woefully unreliable in recent years and his team went through drivers like a knife through butter when he was running two cars.

BRX of course has lower level than WRX/ERX so cars can be tuned more on reliability than performance.

In contrast to Belgium/Holland the SC class is looking good.

I am glad BRX will be again on Youtube.

Wow - Dave Newsham jumps ship from the BTCC to the British Rallycross Championship in a Power Maxed Fiesta Supercar.

http://www.rallycrossbrx.com/news/po...sh-rx-for-2016

Didn't see that one coming!

Just came here to post that, but I'm too slow! As you say, not a bit of news I expected.

Newsham will drive an " ex-FIA European Rallycross Championship Ford Fiesta". I wonder whose car that is?

Not sure which car that is - there must be a few candidates as there were plenty of Fiestas about. Also interesting is that they're using the Fiesta for their 'development year' and build their own cars for 2017 - so it looks like a long term commitment from the team at least.

Fantastic news. Good quality entries seem to be flooding in. Can't wait for Lydden. Didn't see this coming either, why is it so popular suddenly?

I just hope it's not Procter's or Ollie's Fiesta....

Absolutely. There doesn't seem to have been much rallycross news from the Procter camp over the winter, so hopefully it's not his car.

Didn't Patrick Van Mechelen have his Fiesta up for sale? David Binks old Mk.6 Fiesta is still in the UK as well, isn't it?

Confirmed driver line up so far looks pretty strong though:

Julian Godfrey - Ford Fiesta - JGE
James Grint - Peugeot 208 - Albatec Racing
Andy Scott - Peugeot 208 - Albatec Racing (is Andy confirmed?)
Jack Thorne - Ford Fiesta
Steve Hill - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X
Dan Rooke - Citroen DS3 - LD Motorsport
Dave Newsham - Ford Fiesta - Power Maxed Racing

Plus potentially Pat Doran, Ollie O'Donovan, Kevin Procter, Simon Horton, Andy Grant, Steve Mundy, Colin Anson, Mark Watson and maybe Steve Harris?

Can't edit my previous post, but it's just been pointed out to me that the final line of the quote from Adam Weaver states "...this year we will be entering a proven car from 2015..." so that obviously rules out the above!

Simon Horton has been putting pictures and updates on social media with the car being prepped for this year so I'd say you can add him to the confirmed lineup.

Not sure if Simon is doing the British or BTRDA Championship?

ERC24 confirm Dave Newsham will be using the Mk.6 Fiesta of Polish Champion Marcin Wicik:

Does that leave Binks, Van Mechelen or one of Ollie's or Procter's cars then? Hmm.... Or have we mentioned another one in here...

Guessing the BRX championship interest is partly due to the WRX higher profile and BT Sports live coverage. Procter will be there as will Ollie I'm sure, need Derek Tohill to commit, sure he'll do Lydden.

Is Tohill likely to commit of he's doing ERX? Be great to see him and all the others compete regularly as would probably make it the most competitive Championship in a while. Am sure that will upset the group B aficionados but it's definitely very exciting. BT Sport is an odd one. It's definitely a big coop, a big name broadcaster and great for a sport to be on a serious sports channel and not ITV72 at midnight. However, it really limits viewing ability. Presumably more people have Eurosport than BT Sport... Do competitors see much upside?

Whoever promotes the series wont care about where it is shown and how many people are watching.

TV rights these days are not about viewing figures theya re about who pays the most.

There are no real global brands involved in british rallycross unlike WRX, where they are throwing diabetes down your face every second and signing up tenuous sponsorships to display on the screen etc, they might try and do this too.

Its a shame as I could watch the odd round on Eurosport but wont ever pay for BT or watch it, but I doubt they give a damn.

THe grids sound good, but its the lower down stuff that concerns me, always has had, its alright rich kids driving supercars, but there used to be a pathway for them, there isn't any more.

And the WRX example is only making that situation worse and worse.

But hey ho you all think its great so I must be wrong.

Good that Ollie has confirmed. Interesting that Guy Martin isn't racing at croft. Maybe he will do GP, but would like to see him at Lydden. Seems unlikely.
Hopefully see aan entry lust for croft soon, should help us get an Judea how things will pan out this year.

Though that comment isn't 100% confirmation, it seems pretty positive.

Dan Rooke was testing yesterday:
