Prodrive has ruled out for the time being that they will use the Aston Martin's name on their F1 cars. Because McLaren will be supplying the F1 cars to Prodrive, maybe Mclaren wanted to race in La Mans again and they would already have the partnership with Prodrive in F1.

Ok whatever, I understand your point, you understand mine, I think we're on the same page, I understand the ownership of Aston Martin and Prodrive's racing programs, I think we should just get back on topic

And in that case, if you refer to #3 (mine) i actually meant Aston Martin not AMR, which is probably where all the confusion has come from

Your point about returning to the topic was a great one. Although too often do internet forums get bogged down in minor points of little interest! Thanks.

I'm ready to be surprised, but as above, it would surprise me. McLaren have DaimlerChrysler's interests too, I can't see them wanting anything to do with the Aston name. Not impossible, but I just don't see it.

One problem with the Prodrive?McLaren-Mercedes F1 project idea; customer cars aren't allowed in F1.

It is worth remember that McLaren have looked at LMP1 project within the last few years. There was an article in Autosport at the start of the year saying that they built model around the year 2000, which was tested in wind tunnel but Uncle Ron cancelled the project.

AM/AMR don't have the resources to take on Chevy in GT1, so how come anyone thinks they might have any chance of building a LMP1 to take on Audi and Peugeot! Plus I presume at some point Porsche and Honda/Acura will want to move upto LMP1.
The DBR9 project was/is all about taking AM back to LM and selling cars (DBR9 and DBRS9). I don't doubt that there will be something else after the DBR9 project but I just think any rumours about LMP1 are just pure speculation. |

I see a ton of speculation here, but no sources. Don't get me a wrong, I would love to see an Aston Martin LMP. But without an inside source starting this rumor, I only see it as wishful thinking.
