What the hell are they doing putting him in TWS anyway? He's already spent years running in Europe, he should run Champcars! Cripes, they graduated two of their last three champions into full-time F1 rides, that's better than F3000! |

Eddie Jordan was in this financial strain before and got out of it. Now, he will have to do it again, but now Red Bull and DHL will help him finance his F1 team for the 2003 season. Too bad for Arrows though.

The Future is Orange
Jordan became the target of rumours due to their association with American motor giant Ford. The loss of major sponsors Deutsche Post was another reason why Red Bull were said to be interested in the team looking to increase their budget. But Eddie Jordan isn’t about to attempt a sell out with the Irishman having already found new funding.
“I've never spoken to Red Bull about equity, never,” Eddie Jordan said in an interview with Autosport. “We'll announce something quite spectacular in due course, but I will do whatever I need to stay in business.” But Red Bull corporate colours appearing on the side of the Jordan are far from out of the question. Brazilian Enrique Bernoldi is quickly becoming the favourite in the Jordan vacancy race due to his association with the energy drink firm. Former Arrows drivers aren’t the only think linked to Jordan either. The new title sponsor Eddie Jordan says he’s found is expected to be Orange. The telecommunications firm is a long time investor in Formula One through track advertising and long time sponsorship of Arrows. But after announcing the termination of their contract with Arrows, Orange was interested in partnering another team along pit lane. |

Oooiiieeeooo... The plot thickens.
Wait, red bull + orange + cosworths? Hey, is someone building an Irish Arrow? Can't be any worse than TWR's I suppose Seriously though, they don't NEED another driver goddamnit! If they stuck with Fisi and Sato, it'd be better than upsetting the team rythm. Fisi can be quick when his engine doesn't blow up, and Sato only just found his feet towards the end of the season, what waste! Still, I'm just some bum, what would I know? |

Might not be Red Bull after all... according to grandprix.com Richard Lyons and Ralph Firman are being linked with the team (suggesting a big Irish sponsor?). Also Jordan have been holding talks with Davidson

Ralph was born in Norwich, but is "apparently Anglo-Irish" according to this article. My feeling is that Irvine will be signed up for one last year with either Lyons or Firman as test driver (probably Lyons as he's the younger).
Just another thought - isn't Lyons under contract to Honda at the moment? Last edited by cos; 23 Dec 2002 at 12:02. |

You'd have a hard time convincing yourself Firman is Irish if you've ever heard him talk. He should be the spokesperson for the East Anglia Pronunciation Committe
