Who's going to Spa?
Yes, we're planning a long weekend for the family, entered the Interserie race.
Anyone need to make a fuel stop? I'm not sure I can quite manage 61 mins with my tank but I'm not too clear on interpretation of the refuelling regs on the website. The pit crew need to wear fireproof clothing - does this mean FIA standards? The regs refer to 2 fire extinguishers (if I remember right - must read them again) - do I need to buy these or is there anyone going that's already taking extinguishers and would be prepared to lend them to us if we plan a stop at a later time? Enlightenment from the knowledgeable would be appreciated! Also we're planning on stopping on Sunday night - is anyone else? |

Likewise I'm not sure that I won't have to refuel. I asked Hugo and he suggested we need our own extinguisher - you're right the Belgian regs do refer to 2!(and 6kg in size...) I found a website selling these rather large extinguishers for about £40 so I was assuming I might have to buy one and then blag another out there. I don't normally have a great use for large fire bottles! I suspect us FCers could band together and help each other out couldn't we? Likewise my pitcrew of daughter and her boyfriend may not be in state of the art FIA gear - should be able to find some old Proban stuff though... |

David,
Thanks for your reply. Clubbing together is a great idea (but not in the nightclub sense - I'm well past that). FC +SS would be even better - only need one per race that way. I'm still pondering if I could make it on 1 tank full. It'd be close but I wouldn't be happy running out of fuel. I've still got my old Proban suit, someone’s offered to lend me a pair of marshal’s overalls and I could borrow fire resistant boiler-suit type overalls from work. I wasn't sure if any of these would be accepted for the crew. |

there is no mention in any of the regs or other info on the roadbook site about checking or scrutineering of refuellers' clothing, and they don't have to sign on anywhere so I'm thinking how can they be checked?

Doubt if anyone will overlook any refueling transgressions.Proban and a balaclava should be fine for the refueling but the person on fire duty will probably not need to be fire-proofed.

Thanks for the replies about refuelling.
I've finally decided I will make a stop. David - any chance of ordering 2 extinguishers and I'll buy one from you? |

I'll be there co-driving in Mr Wolfe's GT6 in the Swinging '60's. Unfortunately we can't stay over for Sunday evening as we will have to be uncivilised and get back for work on Monday!

I'll be there with the Marcos in the CSCC Swinging Sixties race and just checking the piggy bank to see if I can scrape up enough for the CSCC allcomers race as well, if I can we'll be there Sunday night as well.

I've just noticed that Adams & Page will be there and I may buy some tyres, does anyone know the VAT rate in Belgium?

Tim, why do you need to pay Belgian VAT?
UK company = UK VAT, even abroad. Otherwise bring uncle Eric's VAT number along and pay no VAT (and forget to pay the VAT at home. ) |

You have to pay the VAT of the country you purchase the goods in...................unless I was stitched up by GPR, or was it Demon Tweaks at the 2007 5 hour.

All the talk of fire extinguishers set me off reading the regs very thoroughly.
And f/ex came up for the car. I have a 2.25 litre Lifeline Zero system which is not mentioned in the Spa regs, they only mention minimum 2kg powder or 2.4litres AFFF. The Lifeline unit is on the FIA list but is it ok for this event as it is not mentioned by the RACB. |
