Stock Car: Thiago Camilo wins one million in brazil

It was Thiago Camilo's lucky day in Brazil as the driver secured the victory of the Million BMC 2011 and its most prized million dollar cheque!

Polesitter Marcos Gomes kept the lead of the race at the start with Serra and Marquinhos battling him up front. Cacá Bueno and Khodair Allam were also exchanging position with Thiago Camilo until the first caution on lap 12.

The Medley team did a good job in the first stops and was ahead of Gomes and Serra. But a problem with the floor of the car meant they were losing performance and Camilo took advantage of the situation to steal the lead.

Gomes, running in second place, was going to have to let go of his rivals eventually. Before long, Serra was second with Max Wilson in third position ahead of Nono Figueiredo, who had started in 13th position.

Canadian driver and former F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve, in the No. 27 Shell V-Power Peugeot took the 18th spot of this million dollar race.

"I really had a good time," Villeneuve told Auto123.com after the race.

"I have to admit that it was hard to communicate with my engineer though since he only spoke Portuguese! It was especially tricky since the car was new and we had a lot of adjusting to do," he explained.

"But in the race everything went pretty well and I was running the same times as the leaders. We went for a delayed strategy and it allowed me to lead the race for a lap or two.

"Then my gaz pump was starting to fail me and my engine was turning off at the exit of some turns. I just wasn't able to battle as hard as I would have wanted to.

"I still had a lot of fun and it was a great experience," concluded the champion.
