Pagenaud driving like he learned in sportscars to save fuel and fight only the track from the back of the field. Last to first with great pit timing and consistent laps.

Congrats to Pagenaud, he needed that win. That was an intriguing battle between him and Dixon.

What a ride by Herta, wow, and it looks like the aeroscreen helped for sure.
Although my views of Pagenaud have been somewhat tarnished by his juvenile antics in the online races, he certainly deserves praise for that drive - really impressive going from last to first. Also, I embarrassingly enough only now just learned that Oliver Askew is half Swedish with a dual US-Swedish citizenship and that he even speaks Swedish! Great job scoring his first podium finish |

My name inlaws came for a surprise visit last night so I was unable to watch. Sounds like a really decent race, I hope to catch tonight's action.
First race of the year Herta has finished outside the top 10. |

Race 1 result:
From last to first, that was an impressive drive from Pagenaud. One can never discount Dixon. He's been very consistent, finishing second and with a 50 point lead over Pagenaud. The Aeroscreen certainly did it's job. The nose of Colton Herta's car would have take Veekay's head off. |

Despite all the discussion about the previous Friday race, I forgot that it was on... I could only watch the last 80 laps.

Race 2 Qualifying:
Qualifying for both races took place yesterday, using a format consisting of 2 consecutive flying laps, with Josef Newgarden taking pole for Race 2. Yesterday's Race 1 pole sitter Connor Daly, will start third and Yesterday's Race 1 winner Simon Pagenaud will start last, again. Can he make it two in a row? |

Will be interesting to see if they've learned from yesterday about the tire drop-off and see who starts trying to pit earlier and gain time with fresh rubber vs track position. Only seemed to catch out a couple guys last night but fairly clean race so not many caught out pitting just before a FCY.

Is Herta using the spare car?

They just said on IndyCar radio that it's the same car. That would explain the bad handling.

Oh yeah, I'm surprised anyone would let them use that car without a thorough tear down inspection but maybe they could get that done with the repairs needed.
Ed was maybe a foot too wide and that was it. Hard brush off the wall and good on him to not slam the inner wall too. |

Those pit stop errors are creeping in. O'Wards's race has been effectively ruined after that stop.

Definitely, but surprised it didn't need a more advanced inspection back at the shop. But maybe they have all that in the truck and can get it done. He's barely running and only ahead of Sato, even Marco is staying in front of him

RH-R grinds to halt on the track, after hitting the wall.

Wow, that was bad from RHR. That's a rookie move slamming inside wall twice in 2 days in the way out of the pits.
I'm torn about the street sweepers. I get it and it makes the racing better with more guys able to stay high but it does change what's happened through the race. And they did have the time during the recovery of RHR Graham might be in the catbird seat with a couple laps in hand of fuel over everyone. And Dixon closing in on the series championship it seems, he just keeps building the lead over the field. NBC claiming 52 laps in a row without commercial if it stays green. So guessing it won't to get the commercials in. Last edited by broadrun96; 19 Jul 2020 at 02:17. |

Congrats to Newgarden, the first pole sitter to win. Not a bad day for Penske, with Power 2nd and Pegenaud going from last to 4th.

Only Will Power could call Pags and Dixon bad drivers because he's had bad luck. Really dude? You didn't get go finishes because you hit sh1t the last couple weeks and then your team didn't get the wheel nut. It's not they're bad drivers and get lucky late. You are fast and then HIT things, cars don't go so fast after that.

Race 2 result:
A better result for a number of drivers, particularly Graham Rahal who was third. Dixon now has a 49 point lead over Pagenaud, as IndyCar goes into a short break, which I'm the sure the drivers will welcome after these back to back double headers, returning on August 9 at Mid-Ohio. |

Overall it was a pretty good race again, glad to see there weren't too many incidents and the ones that did occur were small. |
