Braun says I'll see your extra weight and split classes and raise you fast laps and possible lead going in to Petit

Sorry joeb, Yac attacks again.
Upon further review they've both blamed Tincknell for being aggressive and RC says same thing |

John Paul Montana seems like he's forgotten the boss will for him for hitting the teammates. Although Ricky has said screw this now and pulled a gap a bit.

Wow, driving standards have been a bit light today at times. Some might say optimistic, but that was a tough spot for Ricky to try that pass and it bit him

After it settled down and everyone decided to stop making big collisions the order of the day it became a decent race. Seems like a good balance among the cars in the classes, although I'm thinking there will be fuel changes to some cars coming up before Petit. Every time someone wins in a fuel run IMSA decides to adjust the loads but it seems like a couple drivers were better today, not better fuel mileage for some cars

Avoidable for sure like the other contacts especially at the start. Worst race of the year overall. Coverage on FOX was bad. GTLM got almost no coverage at all. Horrible driving standards of course. The only good thing was the great GTD battle in the final hour. Alvardo Parente might have earned the title of best GT driver on the planet at this point in time.

Finally caught up with the race via YouTube. Terribly disjointed start but then a very interesting last 90 minutes. Outside of the unnecessary crash damage, I didn't dislike the race as much as others seemed to.
Really happy for all three winners. Hopefully 4 wins in 2 years is enough to help ESM get some funding for that program (c'mon Nismo, the ROI seems to be there). Obviously biased in GTLM, but it's good to see BMW with some good results after an awful beginning of the year. Finally, real happy for the Meyer-Shank guys to be rewarded after working so hard to keep the car going for the season. Shame for Ticknell and Mazda, that was a sure win thrown away. Overall much better from Mazda this year. |

The problem is those good results are because of the guy who's leaving the team, so much less return now it would seem

As far as star drivers are concerned: JDC and Core have proven they're are other very capable drivers out there, the next Derani is already ranking up miles somewhere, just have to give one or two guys a break. And they'll be cheaper than Pipo as well. No matter what, it was the best promotion ESM could get out of the weekend, they couldn't have asked for more so here's hoping it'll help 'm putting together a 2019 campaign. |

Sad for Mazda. A win at Mazda raceway Laguna Seca would be a huge thing for them. Maybe they'll win Petit.

It didn't really work other than TV guys, think we all called it Laguna Seca, just like Mosport not some acronym

I think it was Marshal Pruett told a story about how he always called it "Laguna Seca". It was his childhood track or something. When he was talking to a guy from Mazda, just generally chatting away in the paddock, the guy got really annoyed that he wasn't calling it "Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca", even in an informal discussion. Even if you were talking with your friends Mazdas expectation was you'd call it "Mazda Raceway", and that just isn't happening.

I was quite surprised at what seemed like low attendance at the track, admittedly, this is just a view based on what I could see in the broadcast pictures but it's a real shame. Such a wonderful circuit and there was barely anyone there. Not really sustainable is it?

I think Laguna has had low attendance for years. Part of the Marshall Pruett's reasoning behind not having two NoCal Indy races at a time.
And yeah, it's Mosport, Laguna Seca and Sears Point for me. Sorry to the sponsors and I appreciate their support but I have trouble calling tracks by different names every so many years. |
