I doubt very much if F1 is right but they could be. Honda has been investing in BAR's chassis section and trying to work more closely with them so, I just think the idea that if / when Tobacco goes by the wayside in F1, Honda will step in on BAR and become primary name.
I'm also not so sure about Toyota pulling out as easily as they have in things in the past. Toyota's made a huge investment, and is moving faster than other teams and also shown they'll be damn harsh masters if that's what it will take. I have no doubt either that they'll only get more speed to go with their professionalism. Toyota HQ won't stand for an operation less than machine-like. Anyway... here's my semi optimistic view for 2004: Ferrari: Michael and Rubens Williams: Montoya and McLaren: Raikkonen and DC Renault: Alonso and Trulli Sauber: Frentzen and Massa Toyota: Fisichella and Da Matta (Da Matta will do fine once he hits his groove.) BAR Honda: Button and Sato Jaguar Cosworth: Webber and Pizzonia Jordan Ford: Davidson and Nguyen Minardi Mercedes: Verstappen and ? Red-Bull Scion(Toyota): Two American Drivers Sony Nissan (Renault): ? and ? British Petroleum TVR: Wilson & De La Rosa It's some wistful thinking. ^_^ |

 f1-racing magazine da best!!!! So, lemme see if I got it right. BMW are not pleased by Williams chassis so they'd trade it at any given time, for a BAR!!! Ok, what next. Mercedes hunting for Joprdan and Eddie rejecting the deal? Hmmm?

I think if webber does make an impact with the new Jaguar then i think he will be moving on to bigger and better things and i also think that villeneuve and button will not be together next year i think they willstart to stop iving info to each other later on in the seson so I think Villenueve will be the one to go and Webber might be head hunted by the BAR team

I'm not so sure that Coulthard will still be at McLaren in 2004. He isn't the future of McLaren, and even if he is there for next year, it's probably because he's a good No.2 driver like Barrichello is.

I just wonder if all the manufacturers will still be in F1 next year? I mean, there's no reason why one of them would decide they have had enough pubilcity from F1 and decide to give it away.

Not a bad choice for either of them actually. DC is a good solid mid-field driver.
I don't think he is fast enough to be in the McLaren seat, but his developement and PR skills are exactly what a team like Jaguar need. I also think they would look after him at Jaguar. |

I like the pessimist list.
How about this, list for the 2010 season: Ferrari: ? McLaren: DC/? - the man cannot be fired. Williams: ? - Running Cosworth Spec - 2 Jaguar: - Still stuck @ the back, has beated Mindardi in 4/7 past seasons. Mindari: - The team that won't die. Running engine based on BMW's last information in 2003. (private company building them) Jordan: Cosworth Spec - 3 Sauber - Still running ferrari's last year stuff Everyone else is gone, possible new teams. |

2010 Season:
GM Ferrari-following their takeover of struggling, penniless FIAT. Also running a GM Lancia rally programe and GM Alfa ROmoeos in saloon racing. McLaren Ilmor "Mercedes" - British team dominating and boring everyone to death like they did in '88 and like Ferrari did last year. Toyota - regular race winners but always bridesmaids in the championship. Williams VW - best of the rest. Honda (BAR - no longer exist). Midfield, - back of the grid team after five seasons of trying to build their own car and failing miserably. Sauber - who?Forgotten who they were but went bankrupt a few years earlier. Renault - gone after years of underachieving. Slimeball boss still managing drivers of above listed teams. Jordan - gone. Minardi - gone. Jaguar - gone. First four teams in the list supplying five cars each. |

To be honest, I'd be surprised to see F1 resemble anything it does today in 2010. The manufacturers will takeover, all teams will be company names such as "Honda", "Toyota", "BMW", etc. They'll pump billions into the sport until time fall tough, the board changes and F1 no longer looks worthwhile, they'll pull out. F1 will have to change to ensure that 20+ cars make the grid.

The return of Goodyear, Pirelli and maybe even Dunlop would make the tyre thing a lot more interesting...
Engine makers wont take over all the teams, it would make no sense becuase they cant all win... the Ford approach sucks because it doesnt work, but being a component (ref: engine) supplier only makes some sense.... |

Displacement will be down to 2 liters, engines will rev to 25,000RPM. Increasingly compact drivers, engines and radiators will allow designers to incorporate true ground effects atop the flat undertray, under the body (the undertray will protrude well beyond the body lines). Slicks will be back, but tires will be about 20% narrower. Michael Schumacher will have retired after the 2004 season, having lost the championship to Kimi Raikonnen with two at Bahrain, with two races to go. The following season, Juan Montoya will bring the championship to Ferrari again. In 2006, a legal dispute over the rights to the Ferrari name between the team and GM will permanently sink the team's efforts. Williams, meanwhile, will lose BMW, who move to CART and endurance racing, only to see CART collapse in on itself as the "WURST" Championship (World Urban Racing Series Teams) dissapears off the face of the earth after continuing the downward spiral in product quality and visibility begun in the late '90s. Williams will attempt to continue with customer Cosworth engines, but the team will never again be a force in F1. Michelin will withdraw in 2006, financial problems forcing the decision. Toyota will continue firing drivers every damn year, preventing the team from ever reaching it's potential. Team principal Ove Andersson will be crucified rather than allow the corporation to take the fall. They then provide Scion-badged customer engines to Team Red Bull USA with some success, thanks largely to customer McLaren chassis and the incredible driving skill of Paul Edwards. Jordan, Jaguar and Minardi are long gone. Renault is on sabbatical, providing Nissan-badged engines to the Elf privateer team, running Ferrari customer chassis. The French manufacturer is embroiled in a bitter lawsuit with Flavio Briatore over allegations of fraud and embezzelment. Honda steps up after Ferrari falters to become the #2 team, Jensen Button and Anthony Davidson proving to be credible drivers, fiercely competing with each other. The Honda engine is never quite up to snuff, but a new design team including a brilliant Canadian aerodynamicist produces the only cars which can rival the McLarens by this point. The Japanese Grand Prix has moved to the Tilke-fied Fuji circuit, while the USGP is held on a Tilke-designed road course near Philadelphia. The race fails to catch on, with increasing calls for the race to be moved to Laguna Seca. Elkhart Lake, sadly, has closed for good, it's remote location and CART's wholesale pullout from road racing having doomed it and many other road courses in the US. In 2008, WWIII reduces Bahrain to a smoldering crater, so the race is moved to a new track in Jamaica. Inspecting the site, Herman Tilke is treated to some local "herbal medicine", and in chemically-altered state of creativity, drafts a spectacular 4.7-mile road course which sees average speeds of 190mph, without a single chicane. The race runs two years before leaving for greener pastures. In 2010, Mercedes pulls out of F1. Kimi Raikonnen's 5th World Championship (teammate Mark Webber having taken the championship in '08) will be the last. Bernie Eccelstone dies alone, unloved and unmourned. Max Mosely and Hermann Tilke both dissapear to non-extraditing countries. After a few weeks of total confusion, the People's GP in Shanghai is cancelled, and Formula 1 ends not with a yell, but with a whisper. Rallying dominates motorsport for the next 35 years. |

Then an unknown golem reinstates F1 having stolen the racing criteria formula of weight handicaps from AJGT, the Formula Student/SAE constructors regulations beefed up to match the whopping 1200cc motors (still production bike based motors though), and uses a combination of duelling rally style (2 are let go onto the rally stage at once, first home knocks out the other, winner faces another survivor in next rally stage), velodrome oval (6 at a time heat-semis-finals format, kinda like athlete meets.), and standard all-on-at-once short and long styled circuits (these make up about 65% of races on the 20 race calander). Local entries are permitted.
The first year is all privateers, 13 regular teams, 25 local university teams compete at varying stages. Texas battles off Tokyo U, Oxford and Wollongong for top honours. Dallas wins three velodrome oval events and takes the Oval sub-championship. 17 year old Jane Toddman is hailed the downhill duel specialist in the Oxford entry. All sponsors are controlled by the F1 comittee and money is divided out mostly evenly between teams. Fans hail it as the true F1, long lost since the sixties. No matter what he does with BAR this year, I think Villeneuve will simply be priced out of the F1 market. He is't ready to retire yet though, so a move across the Atlantic to link back up with Craig Pollock in CART is the most likely option.
Just think, less than 6-months down the line, and we'll all know anyway... |

The new rules certainly make it harder for guys like Ralf to coast along citing 'consistancy'. If he drives in the main qualifying and the race in Malaysia like he did in Australia, he'll already ahve a lot to do to retain favour at Williams, despite being of BMW's favoured nationality. I think Montoya will score at least twice as many points, I may be wrong but we can dig this up in October if I am.
