All the WTCC waivers don't apply in the BTCC. For example I read that at Thruxton the Lacetti's were made to reduce their non-homologated 'radiator bracket' which gives them an aero advantage but which the WTCC allow them to use.

Absolutely true. After the Brands Hatch weekend some thought that the weight reduction favoured the BMWs too much. We'll have to wait at least a couple of more races until we can finally have a complete opinion, from my point of view. Certainly it is a big advantage as, according to some people, the H pattern, 5 speed gearbox gives a huge penalty to the BMWs. I remember in Imola, where the Wtcc 320sis always reached the maximum rev limit towards the end of the main straight, but that's just one example.

I imagine they looked at how much slower he is than Porteiro and realised there was no hope. Unless his car was damaged like Postiglione's.

Would he have expected to be close anyway? Because his experience lies mainly in the Bulgarian rallychampionship, and 1 year in the touringcarchampionship. And I doubt that the level is even slightly comparable to the WTCC.

Do you think so? I think there are also some other factors.
I think more that, since they are old, maybe they're getting cheaper and cheaper. Also, two drivers came from the Seat Leòn Eurocup, maybe they had some 'attention' from the Spanish manufacturer.

If drivers wanted cheaper cars, then you would also see some older BMW's, and the Honda's of N-tech. Yet al the BMW's in the championship are brandnew. I think the Supercopa-argument is more credible; it shares a lot of parts with the wtcc-car, so drivers will need much less time to adapt to their new car.

Older BMWs are still 320i BMWs, so they have penalty weight as manufacturer cars And Eurocup Leons are much diffrent, than S-2000.

It's done on car not manufacturer, so the E46 would be treated differently from the E90. Hence why the petrol and diesel Leons are different. I'm still surprised there's no Lacetti's in the WTCC. They'd be in a good position to fight for the indy title.

Werner, what you say is correct, except that the Leòn Tfsi is still developed while the BMW 320i E46 is a three-years old car, as far as I can remember. BTW, the E46 would enjoy the same weight rules as the Leon Tfsi, as awrb correctly stated.
Yeah, Lacettis would be great, I believe Nykjaer said he'd give a try on doing some European races with the Lacetti.
I was also thinking: do you believe it is realistic that Chevrolet Europe didn't encourage the use of the Lacetti in the Wtcc because if they were faster than the Cruzes it would have been bad for the marketing?

E46 is very old in terms of World Championship. Only Thompson with great team and great car (in it's time ) can do this

Don't agree. BMW top 3, first SEAT in 14th - hmmm. Looks like BMW are very strong for a change.

Andy Priaulx has taken pole position from Augusto Farfus. Tom Coronel will start third for SEAT. The Chevy's line up 5th-7th.

Seat considering withdrawal from Pau weekend, and also warn that things in Valencia won't be different.

I'm so tired of the WTCC vicious circle (SEAT win - BMW cry - FIA change - BMW win - SEAT cry - FIA change...), I really think it'd be better when both BMW and SEAT leave.

This series has done everything in the last years to become just as ridiculous as DTM.
