I really haven't been very interested in the class since the days of the RS Spyder and Acura battles, but do new LMP2s not require fins? Im pretty sure the Level 5 Lolas had them.

It will need a fin, as it's a NEW design. Pretty simple to add in though, I would have thought?

Unfortunately indeed it will require the ugly fin... maybe they all should work on a transparent fin to keep the shape of the cars...

Thats not a bad idea at all .

I reckon the only way we will see that car at Le Mans is if its entered in the WEC , or is 1st or 2nd in its class in the LMS .

Love to see it there though ..... nice lookin beast .

I'm thinking that the Le Mans entry list comes out before the first LMS race. I may be wrong about that, but I think that is the case. Anyway, I think their plan is to race in the LMS and not the WEC. Of course, they would get into Le Mans for sure if they were accepted as a WEC entrant, but I don't think that is the plan. Oddly enough, however, it may be easier to win the LMP2 title in the WEC than in the LMS! It may cost more and it may not be more rewarding though due to LMP2 being the top class in the LMS.

Have a look at this link:

https://picasaweb.google.com/gregbaileyedwardscars

Some great pics and articles about the Bailey LMP2 car. The October album show CAD images of the car with a air scoop on the roof and the honking fin and if you look on the top speed test video you see the car is already reworked completely with fin and scoop.
Really great to see that this is not one more stillborn car and Bailey work hard to make the car race ready.

The top speed test video they have looks like it was on a very dirty runway. But the sound emitted from the car reminded me of an american v8, any ideas what it was?

Thanks. Given Bailey's involvement with Ford products, that makes sense.

I reckon this is a really exciting machine . Hope they manage to put something together for a LMS entry . If they do , and it shows any kinda promise , they will get in cuz of their nationality .

I believe Van Der Merve and Fouche and supposed to do the driving . Sounds magic .

Wish them the best .

ItaliaRacing has some stuff on the Bailey P2 today. They say it has been running a 2L AER engine pending approval of the 5L Ford with Jaki Scheckter and George Fouche doing some testing. I don't quite get the last sentence. Has Bailey hired some ex-Matech people or what?

Bailey will be testing with 3 French drivers (Michel Disdier, Vincent Capillaire, and Sylvain Boulay) in South Africa with the V8 RHS Ford powerplant. The team is wishing to partner with an established team to run the LMS in 2012. This also says they are hoping to sell a chassis to be run at Le Mans in 2012. I don't know if they are hoping to sell a car to a partner or what that statement means exactly. Maybe there is another team in the mix. I don't know.
