It's not someone who has been mentioned on this thread yet.

As far as I can tell he hasn't raced at Silverstone before, but he finished third in a race at Snetterton last year.

Got it!

Will be nice to have another nationality in the BTCC if it all comes together.

The only clue I'm giving - it's not my place to start spreading names around until such time as Peter has the deal finalised and officially announced - is that it rained a lot that day...

A race at Snetterton in the rain...that's narrowed it down a lot!

Sadly we will only have 1 BMW again this weekend. The drivers sponsor could not complete contracts with us before next week.Hopefully it will be sorted so we can run 2 cars for balance of season.

Well thanks for letting us know anyway Peter.

Any word on who the planned driver is? Have we mentioned him yet? Is it a BTCC veteran? What is Norman up to this year? Was it sponsorship issues that kept him out.

Enjoy Silverstone Peter. I'm unable to attend this weekend, too much work to do at home now the house is on the market .

New driver who has limited experience but good potential.Norman Simon was backed by Mezzanine last year at the last minute but they cannot put the same amount of support in this year. They already underwrite our programe and we work from Mezzanines premises in Tonbridge. Check WWW.MEZZANINE.CO.UK they have supported us since CRX days Patrick Watts etc.in 1989,,1990.

Just bringing up the subject of Norman Simon...shame he's not at BMW this year in the BTCC, great driver he was. If he had the sponsorship I guess he might had won the championship this year...what a waste! (Anyone got any ideas on where hes gone?)

Norman is racing the Spyker sports car at Le Mans. He drove for this Dutch manufacturer last year as well and had to miss BTCC practice at Thruxton starting the race from the back as he had to qualify the Spyker for Le Mans.

Wasn't there some rumour doing the round recently that he might be replacing Chris Ryan in a GA Alfa for at least a few races?

Phiroze Bilimoria was about to join the GA Motorsports Alfa squad for the Production Class of the British Touring Car Championship this year though now likely to do a deal with Edenbridge

Starting from the Rockingham BTCC weekend on 21/22 June, Phiroze hopes to be racing the BMW in the remaining 12 races of the 2003 series.
