I suppose you could call yourself a Midlander if you felt like it. Good people too. Regards Jim PS Just in case anyone is getting upset; it's all a joke! Last edited by JimW; 31 Jan 2003 at 21:47. |

I had a good look at the new section on Saturday - as Andrew surmised in his revised post - it is basicly a larger version of the existing chicane with the entrance moved to just after the point where the Fosters circuit joins the straight.
It should be faster than the old chicane, depending on how tight they make the initial right hander! The left hander in the middle doesn't look too tight which means they should carry more speed into the final right hander which looks like it will use the last part of the existing chicane. Would expect there to be more spins on the exit of the last part as they will be hitting the 'hump' on rejoining the old circuit at the right hander much faster - a hint that this may be likely is given by the fact that they are improving the gravel trap on the outside of Knicker Brook - which I cannot recall ever seeing a car ending up in with the old chicane! Its a good job the first Oulton meeting isn't till the end of April as there looks an awful lot of work still to do. |

Is anyone else here feeling that they're starting to realise that chicanes are causing more probelms than they are solving (Monza's chicanes are a classic example), and yet they can't seem to let go of them, so all over the world, chicanes are being made faster (obviously Mallory would be an exception)
