The problem for GT racing has always been the tendency to over-modify the cars and get into a ridiculous arms race like we saw at Le Mans in the late 90s. I'd be happier if the current GT2 was the premier category and manufacturers did prototypes if they wanted to do a more bespoke racing vehicle. Ben |

Two Vantages in FIA GT2 next year would be a great addition and add another marque to the class apart from Ferrari and Porsche. Any word on drivers for Beachdean yet?

I wondered what the Beechdean dudes were up to since Barwell is leasing the DBRS9 to run in FIA GT3 this year, leaving them carless unless they were stepping down to GT4. I think Howard could benefit from another Brit GT3 year, but good to see some Vantages out there!

Revised FIA GT2 calendar is out. Oschersleben and Paul Ricard swap places, while Hungaroring has been replaced by a season finale at Enna Pergusa. So we'll have two GT series ending their season around a lake.

Looks like there'll be one more place to run GT2-cars next year:
FG Group that was so far responsible for the Italian "Superstars" touring car series and the World Superbike Championship is starting a European (if Italo-centric) series of GT-sprint races for GT2/3/4/Cup cars. Here are the dates: March 28 Monza April 18 Imola May 23 Portimao June 13 Hockenheimring (well done, you *****, that's the Le Mans weekend!!) September 19 Paul Ricard October 10 Vallelunga November 28 Kyalami All races will be held at shared weekends with the Superstars Touring car series, most weekends also with the European and Italian Ferrari Challenge. The race format will be 25 minutes + 1 lap, one driver per car. Not sure if the world really needs such a series and if it will catch on, but the weekend line-up is quite nice and I'd have liked to check it out at Hockenheim - but on the LM-weekend I kinda doubt it... *****!! FIA GT2 (and I supposse GT3) finishing at Enna is pretty awesome... Last edited by Speed-King; 13 Dec 2009 at 22:18. |

Wasn't following FIA GT when they last went there, but loved Enna in GTR2. Looking forward to GT2 going there...whatever complaints we might have about the new GT1 and GT2 series, they got the tracks right.

I assume GT3 will end their season at Pergusa as well.
