We sent out another release on Friday with the latest news about entries but for some reason, it seems that it can't be uploaded to here!
If anyone else wants/is able to post it, feel free |

I wonder which car Liam will be in this time after he managed to total another C4 in the Czech Rep?

Didn't he use a "spare" C4 at Lydden for the British round in August? I guess he'll use that.

Just what I was thinking, wasn't it hired from Eastern Europe, Baltic country I thought. I assume it will be an ex Hansen car. Haven't they re built the one he smashed up at Lydden back in March yet? If so he could use that.

I'm sure it was stated (somewhere - can't remember where!) that it was a slightly older car and not quite at the same spec as the car being used in the ERC at the moment. Quote:
Wasn't sure from the pictures, but is his current ERC chariot as smashed up as the car that he bent the start of the year? |

While we're on the subject of cars that have disapeared from view in the last couple of years, Don Shannon's S40 springs to mind. I think I heard it said that he was taking time out due to ill health. If correct I hope he has recovered, but what of the car? It was used by somebody else at Nutts Corner but other than that? Also the ex Bellerby Exige's, are they the current Simpson, Cousins or O'Connell cars? There was 2 I think or are they sat in a garage somewhere?

That's right, but then I also seem to re call reading somewhere that he subsequently sold it. Now the mists of time are starting to clear the name John Smith (no honestly) comes to mind as having acquired one, in Wales I think. He possible entered one of the Pembrey rounds.

Right.
Bellerby lotus's - The original Dresser one is now raced by Ian O'Connal, the second S2 version was sold to John Smith and then to his freind Steve Cozens who has been racing it this year. Ash Simpson built his own car from scratch. Don Shannon is hoping to race his Volvo again, perhaps in the Irish Championship this winter. Turpin - Nova and VX220 are both hillclimbing and are never likley to be seen in rallycross again according to Mr Bowyer. Manning - Also in Hillclimb spec, will return to Rallycross but not at least for another year. Liam C4 'spare' from BRC Lydden - Pat raced in Poland ERC while it was on its way back to its owners. This is now back in Latvia. Evans Astra - It would be highly unlikley if that car sees a track at any time soon... |

I can understand that they want the event to represent the 'cream' of British rallycross but the problem is the cream (BRC regulars) isn't that thick at the moment. The Superprix managed to cater for everyone without diluting quality. Plus the cancellation of Mallory means that BTRDA regulars won't have had any rallycross this autumn. An opportunity missed I think.

well there is always the rallycross / autograss challenge at blyton 13th November, its run on the rallycross circuit and entry is only about £40 , so all you nat b licence holders and anybody else, get ya selfs to blyton and have some fun showing the grassers how to go on

Yes I'm sure the grasser challenge will be worth heading to.
I'm just a bit concerned about the decline of clubman rallycross. We seem to be heading back to the situation of the late 90s where domestic meetings and entries were very thin on the ground. Something needs to be done to revitalise stock hatch (or similar budget formulas) and sort out a BTRDA calendar that goes round the country. This year it was basically a Blyton track championship. Fine if you live nearby but not great if you live anywhere else! The team at Lydden have done a good job with the Lydden ERC round and I'm sure the GP will get be great too. However some work needs to be done getting the grass roots of the sport going as well. |

Same old thing really, rallycross as a whole in the UK is strugglign to keep its head above water, so expecting a clubmans series to cope is a little ill conceived really.
Many drivers are looking at cheaper things like autograss, short oval racing. And you cant blame them, its far cheaper to run, maybe not the cars, but no entry fees, makes sense really. |
