Report of the practice sessions, including times, here.

Van der Zande on top throughout, but Ricciardo and Ericsson now moving up. Tandy 6th, but Wickens only 10th, which surprises me. Henry Arundel is in the wars, which is a shame after his podium last weekend. Not that long for the Carlin boys to repair the car before qualifying, but I expect they'll manage it.

Only 20 cars after all. I think it's West-Tec that are missing.

Was the car count not nearer the 30's last year (or maybe the year before)?

i'm not sure if you're aware of a little thing called an economic melt down that's happened since then considering the fact f2 has appeared since then as well i think 20 isn't toooooo bad. they're all fairly well matched as well.
and valker, you're a genius!

No, there's been no effect here in Alberta at all Bella, not even a little bit.

The lap times in practice are much faster than the F3 Euroseries managed all weekend at Hockenheim a fortnight ago. Would that be due to track temperature and different tyres etc? Van der Zande's lap time of 1m33.147s in practice 2 would have put him on pole by 5 tenths! Sam Bird's pole time of 1m33.657s in the Euroseries was the fastest lap anyone managed all weekend from what I can see.

It's a very interesting point, runshaw, particularly now we have a report of first qualifying and the full times:
Code:
Pos Driver Team Car Time
 1. Renger van der Zande Hitech D/M 1m32.965s
 2. Daniel Ricciardo Carlin D/V 1m33.039s
 3. Marcus Ericsson Double R D/M 1m33.383s
 4. Max Chilton Carlin D/V 1m33.457s
 5. Carlos Huertas Double R D/M 1m33.580s
 6. Robert Wickens Carlin D/V 1m33.606s

10. Nick Tandy JTR M/M 1m33.981s
11. Daisuke Nakajima Double R D/M 1m34.047s
12. Victor Garcia Fortec D/M 1m34.052s
13. Wayne Boyd T-Sport D/V 1m34.151s
14. Henry Arundel Carlin D/V 1m34.350s

16. Gabriel Dias T-Sport D/H 1m34.741s
17. Hywel Lloyd CF D/H 1m34.878s
18. Daniel McKenzie Fortec D/H 1m35.193s
19. Stephane Richelmi Barazi Epsilon D/M 1m35.258s
20. Victor Correa Litespeed S/H 1m37.913s
I suppose I should do some more research on the F3ES site, but that time of Van Der Zande looks to be very quick indeed, particularly when you remember how little practice they have had. Somewhere, when he first drove the car at Silverstone, he made some comments about how the BF3 Cooper tyre compared with the F3ES Kumho. I will try to find them.

the track temperature difference between now and the f3 euroseries round has to be huge. the ambient temperature was mid to late 20s the other week, whereas i think it's similar to here ie cold air and occasional sunshine at the moment.

90% chance of precipitation tomorrow, apparently....

It's been 16C down here today. Less hot than the rest of the week, but still very pleasant. No cold air.

There's another report here and van der Zande is specifically giving credit to the Cooper tires, which is interesting.

I've quickly updated the timetable for the next two days so that the times are in GMT:

Saturday
10.25 -10.55 Qualifying 2
15.40- 16.10 Race 1

Sunday
09.25 - 09.55 Race 2

If it really is going to be wet, it's probably a good thing that there is another qualifying session before the first race.

ATS Cup just finished their 2nd qualifying and the track seems to be wet... or at least I can't figure out any other reason for some +20 sec compared to yesterday.

Report here. It just says Wickens had a nightmare session, which is self-evident.

Jay Bridger did very well to be as close as that to Nick Tandy in the other Mygale.

A couple of reports for you:

http://www.fota.co.uk/news.php?actio...Article&params[id]=896

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/75899

At this rate Ericsson won't be wanting to go back to Japan and Double R won't want him to!

If Tandy stalled at the start and progressed to 8th, he must have have overtaken a fair few cars, even allowing for the 3 or 4 that were eliminated on the first lap.

Good result for Victor and Litespeed in national class, whilst a bit fortunate but to finish 1st you first must finish.
Congratulations to him and the team for thir 1st win.
Not sure what happened to Jay, he qualified just behind Nick Tandy (who stalled on the grid).

Walter Grubmuller and Renger van der Zande scored a 1-2 for Hitech in race 2 this morning, ahead of (good news for you L2LO), Robert Wickens, Marcus Ericsson, Riki Christodoulou and Nick Tandy, who set fastest lap after, presumably, another charge through the field.

Full results here.

Neither yesterday nor today do the times suggest that the track was wet. They were about a second slower than they might have been, but that's all.

Race report here. The race was run run a drying track, but it was slicks all the way.

Bad news for those of us who are Tandy supporters is that he was excluded from race 1 yesterday for an inadvertent airbox irregularity. Details here.

Strider, am I right in thinking Nick stalled on the grid in race 2?? If so, then mega result. If not, still pretty good and he took some points back from Ricciardo.
