My Thoughts
Sat Great to see 2 M6 GT3 of Century Motorsport racing with Dominic Paul winning the award for the most spins. The 935 Porsche was ridiculous. The Mosler which was out had some issues throughout after tangling with the Wilmott M6 in Practice. Some good racing with Adam Carroll and Jamie Stanley being Pros clawing back the advantage of others in there class. Sun Sundays Sprint race was great with the 935 and Mosler having a great scrap until the Mosler dropped back. In the endurance race the highlight had to be Jamie Stanley catching the Gibson's 650s in 20 minutes with the latter having a 15 second gap. Managing a 1:03 round Donington National was mightily impressive. A shame neither Tim Richards or Bob Berridge in there Huracan GT3 or V8 Volvo turned up. Overall a great weekend with some good numbers and more to come. |

GT Cup 2019
Well it sounds a decent turnout, although shame some were a disappointment. At least we had star names and a good variety of racing. And plenty of different classes of racing over the weekend
It is tough for a series to make an impact, but sounds good so far, with bags of potential |

1 week till Round 3 after the longest gap between rounds I've eer seen in a race series. Over 2 months.
Various changes in drivers in GTA and GTH. Some new cars include Grahame Tilley changing from a Ginetta G55 to an ex RJN Nissan GTR GT3.At Silverstone its Sister car will also be appearing. Great to see. |

Thoughts
Cracking weekend at Brands
Decent entry of 27 but only 21 turned up. NMA Lotus out in 1st Practice with engine failure on 1st outing Qualifying good betweem Igoe and Neary. Race 1-Good battle between Igoes Lambo and S Neary Merc.Merc pulled away as the race went on. Prematurely ended as one of the Team HARD Ginettas went up in smoke at Druids. Was back out next day. Race 2-Being the pitstop race was always going to be good.Same as race 1 with Richard Neary this time being followed by Igoe. Just as both were going to pit there fron and back splitters interlocked which caused the Merc to spin and hit the barriers.SC caused field to close back up. With about ten minutes to go and a rain shower in progress and great fight between Will Tregurtha in Grahame Tilleys ex RJN Nissan GT3 and Igoe in the WPI Lambo. Kept changing with Tregurtha as the rain came down catching Igoe rapidly. Then on the last lap Igoe who had a couple laps previously lost the lead retook it at Surtees (where I was watching). Surely over, nope . Going into the final corner Igoe ran wide and Tregurtha retook the lead to win.One of the races of the season. Shame that the 55 Lambo of J Seale and Pro driver Jamie Stanley was out for personal reasons I think. Also great to see the Team Webb Huracan ST fighting with the G CAT Porsche GT3 of Jennings. Thoroughly enjoyable. |

Donington GP Entry List
https://www.gtcup.co.uk/calendar/eve...-22-23-24-2019 Lots of new names across all classes. Good to see new GTO cars in the Geddies Lamborghini and Martin Short in the Mosler. Another full grid with 27 cars is fantastic. Just hope they all turn up. |

Great first day listening on TSL.
Pre Running- Good entry but with 8 non starters including Chamberlain Supersport (935 put to bed for winter) ,the Mosler, Evora ,2 BMWs and others . Not great really. Some really good rafing . During Pistop race having Glynn Geddie, Will Tregurtha and Jamie Stanley running in the respective ST Evo Huracan, Nissan GT3 and Huracan GT3 Evo was fantastic battling with each other. 2 dominating victories for the Nearies in the Merc GT3. With rain tomorrow it should be another cracker. Would be just fantastic if every car that has raced and will be in the Moslers case will race to be all in one race. Would be at least 30 to 40 cars and would be matching it with British GT in terms of competitive racing. |

Interestingly, we have two similar series here in Germany with DMV-GTC and Spezialtourenwagen-Trophy and both of them really have taken a hit in terms of entry numbers over the last few years as well, as did the similar Dutch Supercar Challenge. I'm beginning to wonder if interest in that level of racing is somewhat drying up these days, with old guys retiring and the new generation of well-heeled would-be gentleman racers spending there money outside motorsports? |

GT Cup has bounced back this year with some nice cars, just look at the entry lists I've posted and the TV highlights for evidence. Lots of ex works cars and pro teams. GT Cup is seen as quite a good ground to either learn the trade or for Gent drivers with pro drivers helping. Really nice variety although the amount of classics is dwindling although its been great seeing the Porsche 935 winning . Its a amazing car and can beat modern GT3 cars. At Snetterton it had a battle with the Mosler which was great to see. There is so many cars that are eligible that don't race or only race very few times a year. I'll be doing a end year list of all the cars that have taken part. |
