Hi GB, I think we are both one the same wave length, as soon as I noticed
Raymond was from Palmerston North. I thought yep, he will be a mate of the
Promax's.

So I saw somewhere that an ST is up for sale can anyone tell me who's car it is and what is the price? If you have a link that would be great.

Will there been any driver changes or new cars on the grid in the new year?

No, I don't know Promax, there are 60 000 people in Palmerston North...but what I was actually wondering about was the decisions that were alluded to. I dont want it to get personal, but if there were decisions made by a MSNZ official that contravened the rules, I'm sure the sport would like to know.

Only facts though please.

Hi Raymond

One example from me, Cars in race 1 at Taupo being held at the end of the pitlane until all cars had passed not just the train when under the Safety car.

With a population 1 million people less than the state of Victoria, how will New Zealand be able to support yet another new circuit? How many circuits will you have, six?

Victoria only has three active circuits, four if you include Calder.

we've got 7 main tracks by my reckoning: teretonga, levels, ruapuna, manfield, taupo, hampton downs and pukekohe with highlands and the new nelson track currently being built.

So is McIntyre still going to be racing, or do you reckon he will back right out of it? He seemed pretty angry after Ruapuna.

Cheap car at $0 though, wouldn't be able to build one for that...

I imagine he will be there racing, I guess he must have decided that running two cars is too big an ask. Pure conjecture and speculation on my part in lieu of any other information coming to light.

If I hear I will let you know.

John is running a single car V8ST team next season and a couple of challenge cup cars....same enduro partner and some significant livery/personell etc changes...........think he will be much stronger without the stress of a second car.......

Also in that little update about the title sponsorship is a snippet about Hyundai possibly joining the series next year. Anyone have any more info on this?

Well could be Hyundai (i45 maybe?) or Kia (Optima?) from my understanding.

For the Korean round to take place I imagine that would be a requirement. IMO.

Kia Optima is a nice looking car, would look cool in ST getup.

Yes Mark Petch mentioned this in a TV3 interview some time back.

Personally i would love to see the Kia, but the i45 aint that bad either

Both are rubbish to drive but most of the masses won't mind the massive under steer both have.

Yes i have heard that too FD, that is the road cars are not that flash at all. They look pretty, but you get what you pay for i guess.

But of course we have to remember here that V8ST is a common driveline and chassis formula. So whatever manufacturer they decide on (and presumably it is more Hyundai than Kia) it will be a V8ST chassis with a different dress on, that is rear wheel drive (via the ford 9" diff) with a monster 7L V8 packing the punch.

Either way it will be cool to see a third body shape on the grid come 2013.

V8ST just seems to be going from strength to strength, while the 'other' series just keeps dissapointing at every turn. Todays announcement of BNT taking over sponsership of the series in a multi year deal, is IMO, the final nail in the coffin. Sure the NZV8 summer series may run, but it will be poorly attended by both drivers, teams, and punters.

Pity really as the MRX car seems to have the speed and grip (even with fresh dunlops on!).....and although i am miles off the mark here, i would still like to see the MRX/TLX cars run as a feeder series to the ST's. I know this cant/wont happen (as Icarus_nz has pointed out to me ) but to me it just seems logical.

Instead the feeder series to the ST's will still be the old TL spec cars, but its still last centuries technology. In my perfect world the TL cars would be pushed into a tier 3 series, while tier 2 will be the MRX chassis, and tier 1 will be the ST's

Then we would have a similar structure to Australia, where they have the Kumho series, DVS and of course V8SC.

The reason i feel strongly about this is that i believe our feeder series to the ST's should be close on pace and grip and run a sequential box.

But of course GB's idea of planting LS1's and coyotes into the TL cars and then fitting them with a squential box would achieve similar results IMO. But will that happen, probably not

WOW STFAN

Not sure many knew the cars we built off a common platform, I'm not sure that Hyundai or the Kia are even that good looking as you say.

Why will it be cool to have a third body shape, adding in a High and Dry will only add to parity worries between Aero on the different body kits. This is a problem I can see the TLX boys are going to struggle with, why do you think it would be different for ST? Unless the Hyundai/Kia are going to pay for parity aero testing then all good but I doubt that. Look at what Supercars are doing with there series to check on the Aero for the Mercs and Nissans.

Also why would we have 3 classes of V8's in NZ. I struggle to see us having 2 with the $$ needing to be spent to run competitive cars, NZ just isn't that big to run that many series. They need to find a cost containment method for the TL/CC cars so that they can be run for 5K to 8K max a round and then we can promote as a class for the up and comers. Maybe different engines will help that but cost containment is the major issue for me in a feeder class so Dads check book doesn't win driver skill does.
