I remeber, seeing a lot of one particular Bimmer, make that two, at Winton one day. A bit of Road Rage between the drivers. That footage probably exists somewhere

Longhurst belting into team mate Morris, the Morris car then went to Anthony Robson and then to NZ, but I don't know what became of the Longhurst car.

Wasn't it the Longhurst car that went to Steve Ellery in 1995, Cameron McLean in 1996, did Bathurst in 1997, the eventually to Anthony Robson in 1998 and the first two rounds of 1999, before Allan Letcher took it over and ran it at the Bathurst 500 with Jenni Thompson?

The biffo happened during ST days, not gp A. Before this time, McLean also had one of the EX B&H E30's & won the Aus Sports Sedan Championship in it, running in its true unrestricted DTM guise (complete with homologated lightweight panels). Incredible car, it's now in Vic I believe...

Actually the McLean E30 is in NSW with a mate of mine. He runs it 2 or 3 times a year in club supersprints only. It's still in the McLean trim with the thinnest windscreens I've ever seen.

The last time I visit the Holden Driving centre at Norwell, Morris have some of his old photo's and items on display in there. Don't know if there still on display as the team took over one of the wings of the centre as a Fab shop, so don't know where they moved the stuff too. Might pay to drop in if your in the area and see if anything is still around.

Thanks guys, those old Super Touring BMWs were just what I was looking for. My first exposure to Aussie racing was the ASTCC cars, the Bimmers vs the Audi. At the time, they also had a Bathurst 24hr event just for Super Tourers and I 'thought' the Super Touring cars were the top level of competition in Oz.
Little did I know...eh?

I will say, though, that watching DTM racing is almost like seeing the cars in Slow Motion since most of the events are held on glass-smooth FIA F1 tracks. Having started watching Touring car events by seeing the BTCC cars and the ASTCC events on the old version of Speed Channel, really gives you some appreciation for the way cars move when the track is less than perfect. So while the DTM and ETCC cars are probably much faster, they just don't 'look' faster cuz they don't buck and wobble like the old Super Touring cars did.

thanks again for the photos and the entertaining thread.
