I think we all knew from when it was first announced that speedmachine would not work especially when admission prices were advertised.
Things got worst for us race fans when firstly the circuit layout was so short and twisty with no chance of overtaking. Secondly it became clear after visiting the British round in March 2018 that unless you had a stand ticket you would see bugger all. That march round was actually well attended probably with first time spectators but unfortunately Silverstone were totally unprepared and disorganised on that day that it was unlikely many returned. So rallycross/race fans were immediately put off attending so that leaves the festival crowd. Well I admit I fall into that sector as well and I'm no spring chicken and neither are alot of festival goers. Most music festivals now gear themselves towards the family market, but not Speedmachine. Normally a festival will have more than 1 stage so you can usually find something on you like, not one stage with music of very limited appeal which when the sound failed consistently few seemed bothered. And generally at a festival you can sit on the grass if you don't want to stand, not a tarmac paddock! Neither does a few street food vendors make a festival as IMG seemed to believe. Also when you buy a festival ticket more often than not it includes your camping, not the extortionate add on prices they were asking So what I'm saying is Speedmachine was never a music festival, and was never a good rallycross event with a track which drivers liked and a circuit with good viewing opportunities for all spectators. It seems that not only do IMG still not understand rallycross but also do not understand music festivals. |

Confirmed that Latvia is taking the September date, so just the new track to be named.

Thinking about my list above, I used the old name of the Austria track but I guess being now called Red Bull Ring it's unlikely that a Monster series will go there

Meanwhile, IMG and Stard will organize the Projekt E, a electric rallycross series, at five FIA WRX rounds: Spa-Francorchamps, Hell, TBC, Nürburgring and Latvia.

I watched some YouTube coverage on the E car. It looks pretty fast and goes sideways on straights under power like a real WRX car. As support series go, this has my vote. If the drivers are up to spec, this could work!

Not sure if this is just in relation to their webstore...
https://www.instagram.com/p/B7lfnXLDYU9/ ...or is there no RX Cartel in 2020?* |

Nitiss is going rallying this year so unlikely he'll be involved - apparently he's looking to gain experience this year then go for the European Rally Championship in 2021.

Welcome to the doom and gloom, gone to the dogs chat for a couple of months then WRX pulls a rabbit out the hat and delivers 18 permanent entries.
I hope ERX has a better permanent entry this year. Last year was quite poor. And I hope the WRX grows a brain and increases s1600 to 30 max entries. Every round was oversubscribed last year then you get a few drop outs and are left with 22. Just accept all entries and you'll seldom get more than 25 actually starting the first heat. |

I would guess some teams start late as they get tempters from IMG perhaps to do a few rounds.
S1600 is a no brainer, great racing and a huge talent pool would far rather see them than the RX2 go karts. I hope they see sense and reduce the fees etc involved for teams as right now it seems no RX cartel either, which reduces the prestige of an already well below expectations last year series, although the racing last year was much improved, other than the nonsense between the Hansens and Bakkerud, which I could do without, that has its place, but not at this level. |

Not many announcements. It sounds like the series is struggling for money.

Well the paid or semi professional drivers maybe, I doubt the audience is looking forward to that, despite the sheer power |

That's what I meant, it's a chance for drivers and teams to get investors. The audience, the current one at least, might fade. I wonder how Höljes will cope as many spectators are motor heads to the bones.

Kevin Abbring will compete for the 2020 Euro RX title in a "newly developed" GCK Clio:

GRX team manager Jussi Pinomäki said Vauhdin Maailma magazine that last season the FIA WorldRX was on a healthier footing than the previous two or three seasons.
GRX chief engineer Niko Ehrnsten said that Hyundai WRC-based the car is basically a strong, it is designed to withstand Rallicross, which is a contact sport. Virtually all the other parts in it are WRC production, but not the engine and transmission. |

Seems to be a steady stream of drivers confirming for the Euros at the moment. I wonder if the recent announcement from All Inkl (that they are backing a Supercar support series in Titans) means that we won't see Munnich in the Euros this year?
I hope that isn't the case, as I think those Ibiza are superb looking cars. |
