RS Spyder, Saleen, Pescas, R8s, Panoz Esperante. Shame no return of MC12 but midd 00's list looks appropriate otherwise

Always amusing to have the LMPCs and DPs while they are still allowed in the premier 24...

I wish LM Classic (or even the LM support race in proper race morning) had this varied lists instead of the same old running with tight restrictions. One and only thing Daytona does better, classic runnings. And this is only second edition

Will be a fun event for sure. The regular HSR events aren't like they were 10 or more years ago, where you'd see a Silk Cut Jag, Sauber C9 Merc, and an 80's Rondeau on track together. It's nice to have an event like this where some real classics come out of the woodwork. And sorry Canamman, I'm sure the new grandstands will be closed for this event, especially with the construction going on, but should be good times in the infield!

Yep , I called Daytona and spectating will be infield only. Thought
it would be fun to watch the Trans Am race from high up so you
don't miss a thing. I am sure there will be action in that race.

Do you know if HSR sells tickets at the gate or is it by internet/mail
only? Daytona said they are not in charge of selling tickets for this event
which I found a little odd. Called HSR - " leave a message" recording is all
I got.

HSR will be selling the tickets at Gate 40 from their trailor.
That's is over near Nascar T1 and the Tunnel entrance.

That's how they did it last year too and I suggest arriving early. There was only one window open as I recall and I stood in a long line for well over half an hour to get tickets, and then still had to walk back to the car and get in another line to get into the infield.

I will be there Thurs. or Friday if I make it.
Trying to figure out the difference between
an HSR car vs. a Classic 24 car. Can and
HSR run in the Classic and visa versa?

Heard through the grapevine that after this year,
this race will happen every other year alternating
with the Classic 24 in LeMans which will next be held
2016. Classic 24 Daytona will be back in 2017, and so on.

That's interesting about alternating with the Le Mans Classic. When they first ran the Daytona race last year, they stated their intention was to run every two years, but then they decided to go ahead and have the race this year, I guess since things went well for them in 2014.

If I am not mistaken, IMSA got involved this year, which might be why it was run a second year in a row.

IMSA and its new friend FIA might see the Daytona Classic 24 growing into something as big as the Le Mans Classic, and maybe bringing some substance to Daytona, which (thanks to the series-which-shall-not-be-named) lost all its cachet as a serious sports car race.

Great for the fans.

Really neat to be able to see Derek Bell wheeling the Lowenbrau 962 around the high banks 30 years later.

That's great news. My first Daytona 24 was in 1990.
That saw Bell blow over the 962 out of Nascar 4.
Cant wait to see these legends - cars and drivers.

Chamber of Commerce weather on the way for this event!
Lot a good gear and drivers showing up. Time to show off
and grab some bragging rights for the trophies. Be fun
to see a prototype battle break out.

A ton of Prototypes here. Does the heart good seeing them on the high banks.
Night practice was awesome. Lots of exhaust flames. Weather - perfect

Best historic event I have ever seen . Lots of prototypes
that I have enjoyed the past 20 years. Strong GT fields as
well. Yes, the iconic 911 Lizard is here ! There is also a P1
Judd screaming around here as well. The Intl horse shoe
is still producing sliding cars on grass due to cold tires.
Biggest incident of the day was right after the kink
going into the western horse shoe. I looked up and
saw a large dark cloud of sand and dust with a Trans Am
car cartwheeling in the middle of it. Car landed upside down.
They got the driver out . He was awake and alert. Put him on a
board and off to the hospital they went. He was treated
and released rather quickly. It did bring out a 30 min.
red flag to fix the armco. All for now.
