Nice link Mike.
What had confused me earlier was not so much the link and the hiatus of information for 2 hours or more. Subsequently I was puzzled, having resumed my 'spectating by proxy' about the apparently slow race speeds. I assumed torrential rain - but the weather status suggested otherwise. Now I have spotted that the first laps seem to be remarkably slow. Do we have a pace car for lap one ofter the rolling start? Is this a form of equalisation related to keeping tyres below working temperature? I noticed that a few competitors in the qualilfying sessions had very few laps - sometimes all the competitors had very few laps compared to the expected lap times. Problems? Or people reducing their cost levels for the weekend? We need commentary!!!! |

Glorious weather
Very tight timetable. Time lost in DBT qualifying and HF2 race. Thereafter the race time clock started from release of cars onto circuit ie inc green flag lap. Cars did one lap stopped on grid then normal start. This explains the long first lap. Race speeds slower because of this and safety car interventions. Made for an interesting Guards Trophy that finished just inside curfew. Overall, enjoyable but I could have done with more than 10 mins lunch break! See you all again tomorrow. |

Thanks for the background Flagman.
I was wondering if they were making the drivers run the first lap .... |

Congratulations to HSCC for recovering the timings so well after the F2 delays. As ever with HSCC a great friendly meeting.
Sadly a technical gremlin which took 5 minutes to fix after the event stopped my son on the last lap from getting his second signature in the Guards. The track was full of oil but it was a pleasure to be playing in the Merlyn again. On a seperate note anyone on the reserve list for the 6 Hour you are now one closer - we pulled our entry last week. |

Was only able to make the Saturday due to Goodwood but it was great to see so many proper F1 cars out on the GP circuit.
The DBT race with F2 v F5000 battles was a belter. In answer to the thread starter, yes there was too many single seater events and Saturday at least lacked variety. |

I was there all day Saturday and half of today...one of the best races for me was the afternoon F2 (DBT) race today (the first half at least) 4 for the lead for a good few laps...was a great race!

I just attended the Saturday, but was really impressed. Especially with just how close I could get to the action without having endless amounts of people in my way As a short person, it gets incredibly annoying having to tip-toe everywhere I go, just to see a flash of cars go past.
I had a look from Paddock Hill, took a stroll round to Druids, and then walked the whole track. Me and my pal decided to get back in the car and take it to the inside section, viewing the Cooper Straight on the verge! Fantastic view Had never been there before. All in all a fantastic day. Martin Stretton (sp?) was incredibly entertaining. Selby |

I had a fantastic time in the CF3 race yesterday, good clean and fair racing.

Yeh, I was generally impressed with the standard of racing, too. Very fair, very interesting!

Me and Gordon were stood at the fence behind the pit garages remanicing about the days when the place would be full of spectators at just a small clubbie meeting. We both agreed it was Sunday shopping that has stopped them comming.

Sunday shopping? Whats that then?
Has a couple of excellent races in the Formula Juniors with the Alexis Mk2. Its quite nice beating a few rear engined cars with a front engined car Sunday made it worth rebuilding the gearbox on Saturday evening so I didn't need to hold it in 3rd gear and steer one handed. Stuart. |

Attack Paddock Hill Bend !!!!! mmmmm - here's my poorly implemented attempt at such a strategy. ps I have a high performance steering wheel for sale, that that although not very good at going round corners, accelerates/decelerates from 85mph to 0mph to 75 mph in about 0.5 secs - best offers considered - may suit dragster rather than circuit racer! |

oops! must have had a fair speed to get all the way to the fence though!?! I had an incident in race 2 which left me trundling down the grass at the exit of druids a bit worse for wear - still trying to work out how i ripped the bottom panel SIDEWAYS?! HFJ no. 75 if anyone knows! great meeting though and two great races for FJ - good viewing from the marshals post as well! |

Thanks Simon, must admit it all felt quite stable and controlled to me but I hear the car was drifting at some interesting angles. So if there are any photos of car 12 in the Historic Formula Junior race I wouldn't mind seeing them.

Guess it helps when you can straighten it "in house" if you have a whoopsie ;o)
