Marshals point of view about the paddock
Hi guys,
Just taking a nose away from the marshal’s forum for a change. I will be one of the officials over the weekend and thought I'd just have a nose about what you guys are thinking on the run-up to the meeting. About the parking behind the garages and in the paddock, all we will ask is that you respect others allocated garages/plots. If you've been allocated a garage/plot, that's your space - please don't use others. And as long as there is emergency lane between the trailers and garages we are happy. Not only are there problems with the parking in the paddock and garage areas but please be aware of where you are laying down wires. We respect that you have to run wires across the paddock but please tape them down with duck tape or something. On numerous occasions this year we have had members of the public and/or team members tripping over them and injuring themselves. This means we then have to take one of the ambulances from trackside to deal with it. That means one less ambulance to deal with any incident on the track. And finally, please give the marshals around the circuit a wave after you've finished your race. This always makes them feel appreciated. And they'll wave back to you guys undoubtedly. Most importantly though, have fun and stay safe! |

SF, we'll do a deal:
tell the great unwashed to pick their feet up and we'll wave at the marshals (but we do that anyway) |

Hi Guys, we will be racing the Warwick in the pre 65 FIA race, look forward to seeing you all there. SF I sympathise, EVERYONE should wave their thanks to the marshalls, great unwashed or not!! Without you guys we wouldn't be out there and it's the least we can do.

I see the finals tell us to park trailers in the designated areas but there is no such area on the plan. Now I've always done as asked and put my trailer in the trailer area and only had my road car near the garage. Sadly not many other folk do that.
I must say some of the guys in the ZRs are annoying - they seem to bring a whole outfit as if they were doing the BTCC. One young lad in the same garage last year had a big van, trailer, tent and two support cars and was reluctant to move any of them to let me in. I don't see him on the entry list this year so perhaps Daddy's money is used up or he realised he would not be the next Jason Plato! |

Either that or he's attending a 'Back to work 'interview.

Has anyone been told of the latest paddock parking arrangements or is it only us and the rest will go for a free for all as usual?

HRDC are caged behind the cafe and everyone else (other than those who have paid for a garage) can go where they like. That's what the finals say!

Thoroughbreds and BCV8s have been told to park in their usual places behind the toilets and filling station, the problem being is that if no one else knows this it's still going to be a free for all.

Best club level motorsport event there is. A huge operation and well organised. Good racing with decent driving standards and few idiots on track - let's hope the HRDC don't lower the tone ;-))
There's always a few ***** in the garages but its generally because they're shared between about 8 people who all want to bring all their kit and camp followers, elsewhere few issues and lots of friendly folk. If you haven't been before make sure you get to see the tented village and the concours. I think this will be 28 years for me without missing one. I see BSS has DRX out in the FIA race. |

MGLIVE! is allways a good event and I'm looking forward to it once again.
I believe that the new release of the MG6 will help this year to be bigger than ever! |

Evo,
I see your point. I also see the die hard viewpoint reference the "moderns". That said I recall when I raced Metros and some tit in an MGA told me I wasn't entitled to be a member of the MGCC (all clubs have them). I'd driven to the circuit in my 1965 registered MGB, the car was towed up by an MG Maestro. Go figure. FWIW, the Chinese MG's may never hit the spot but that may be because they are a bit last century, (but should be this century). They are not the only ones. I love Tag Heuyer watches (have two) but they (Tag) are trying to sell me a phone that looks great, doesn't do e mail and only has GPRS (in a 4g age). Marketing is about hitting the right market. I think the current MGs are nowhere near what they should be. This is correct IMO. |

Spectators will only come along for the racing and parts stalls, apart from that the ticket price will need to be right as well.

Off topic, but Tag hit the market, Heuer made half decent watches, I guess there's an analogy there somewhere.
