Actually it was tweeted by the man himself. So there's either a dangerous flaw in these hybrids or..... the driver used too much right foot. I go with the latter.

it was a software error, these things happen, just like in FP1 the engine failed because a wire wasn't connected propperly to the engine, at Renault these things happen

With Max there always seems to be some sort of technical error excuse rolled out very quickly. Happened at the previous race too. |

He ran over the painted line on the edge of the track with his right rear and it looked like it lost traction, which spun him off and into the tyre wall.

Worlds worst video as it was filmed on a potato. He may have been losing control before the white line, but agreed - classic right foot error. Edit: https://redbullracing.redbull.com/ar...-gp-qualifying Quote:

The Alonso curse lives on..... Even Hartley, who was off the pace of gasly, outqualified both mclarens. This is not going to end well for McLaren. Honda gonna be a force in the red bull cars next year I guess?
The times were very close for the top 5. That is good to see. Seems like Haas has taken a step up this year. Any worries about the Ferrari smoking so much when starting up? Nice to see Bottas outqualify Hamilton. Lastly, pole for Vettel in that close of a session, not bad for such an "overrated" driver.... |

Will the Hondas hold together though?
History says it's unlikely. STR have been running low drag here as well which has given them straight line speed. So the lap time might suggest they have a very nice chassis to get them round the rest of the lap. Bravo, great to see. McLaren have lot of work to do but it's waay too early for a tabloid style trashing by every man and his dog! |

Dont forget both Toro Rosso's have the new updated engine for this race, so it might just last. (ie they are on to ICE #2 of 3 allowed for the year.)

Ok accepting that, it appears the driver has even less control of the vehicle than we thought.
Throttles always run the risk of jamming but only after they've been mashed to the floor. In this case it apoears the car decided to accelerate itself! |

Snip:"It is just racing," Horner told Sky Sports. "That lap was never going to be a quicker lap, it was purely about giving the engine the opportunity to learn the optimum settings. very good Peter |

Of course it was. He should never have said, the engine just suddenly gave more power.

I imagine the engine did give him more power! In response to his right foot requesting it
