Danilo did the double. Wow. I was right there watching too.
*biased fan stuff coming* He was amazing today! He just had everything under control in the races. The start, the laps (from what I could see) were perfect. And, what's great is, we bumped into Alvaro Parente in the paddock too, hehe. |

Big article on Susie S this week in Autosport. Yet again failed to live up to the hype and with quite a number of good guys short of a budget, what a waste of money.

sorry, but i don't see anyone saying that tim bridgman's season is a waste of money because he's rubbish too. i think you're being downright sexist there.
spectacular accident for kennard, and an expensive one too, the phrase "not a straight panel on the car" springs to mind. it was going to happen though, he didn't seem to leave fisher any space at all on the inside of goddards. i was surprised at dan clarke (because he was downright rubbish in fford, before anyone asks), he was very competitive in the first race, altho not sure what happened at the second race restart? dirani was very very good, i have to say. i'm not sure he'll keep it going through the season, but on the strength of today, he's going to win the series by some distance. bring on spa... |

I don't know how anyone can say it's a waste of money - I think its the old jealous hand being shown by one-two clubbie racers who wished they had the money to compete at a higher level and who I'm sure wouldn't be half at competitive as Susie is even if they did!
It does look as though she'll have a similar year to that, that she had in Renault's last. She looks a solid top ten runner who will nip a podium now and again when the circuit suits her but she's certainly not going to be a regular race winner or even podium finisher. I do agree with the comment about all the publicity she gets. It is appalling and indeed very sexist! She has won NOTHING, not even a race and yet she gets a two page spread in autosport every 6 months or so and has every writer of the magazine licking her ass! I'm sure it's a nice ass but please autosport....your making yourselves look very unprofessional Last edited by Gaz; 4 Apr 2005 at 07:33. |

I wonder if any of the other runners will switch to a Lola chassis - it would be good to see a variety of cars racing.

Dirani, P1 and the new Lola were very impressive, but 12 months ago Adam Carroll ran away with the first race at Donington, so P1 obviously know how to set up a car very well for that circuit. Dirani simply showed the same form yesterday as he did at Croft last year. The question is, can he keep it up?
It was an impressive debut for Räikönnen Robertson Racing. They are probably the ideal team to get the best out of Dan Clarke and Bruno Senna. Mike Conway and Fortec have discovered that winning the title ain't going to be a walk in the Park, but Neil Brown Engineering always run the engines in conservative mode during testing, so you shouldn't pay too much attention to the times set then. Amongst the others, Ryan Lewis made up a lot of places in both races and went away with a new lap record, whilst Steven Kane did remarkably well to be 7th and 5th respectively, considering that the car was only finished in the early hours of Thursday morning and he was very out of practice himself. |

Interesting that in Japan over the weekend it was Dome 1, Dallara 1. So the scores on the doors now read:
Lola 2 Dome 1 Dallara 1 What next? A Chevron comeback?! |

Great day's racing, I thought, and lots of nice surprises. Dirani was clearly the class act. Asmer obviously needs a few practice starts. Conway must have been a bit disappointed by the performance of the P1 Lola, eh! I thought Dan Clarke looked very quick.
Anybody fill me in on what happened at the Old Hairpin on lap 1 of race 2? (I was right there, but, like the fool what I is, I was looking through my camera lens at the cars coming down the Craner Curves and completely missed the actual accident, though I think it may have been caused by Senna(?) coming down most of the Craners on the grass...) Final point: Could the Susie-bashers please just **** off and get a life? She deserves to be where she is just as much as anybody and looked quick and assured on track in both races. Yes, she gets lots of press coverage, and that is a good thing, partly because any coverage for F3 is good, but mainly because it could help get more women involved in the sport - and probably a heck of a lot more effective than the farce that was "Formula Woman". |

So think she's fit then to do you Mathias!?
I'm not saying she doesn't deserve to be there but the fact she gets so much press and the fact she's been nominated twice for the BRDC Young Driver Award ahead of much more talented drivers despite having only achieved a few podiums and NO race wins is a complete disgrace, sorry! Haven't had time to read all of this thread, but a great couple of races yesterday. I was lucky enough to see both startline shunts... would say Senna is fast but wild, as I thought
Great performance by Dirani, but he needs to prove he's a winner, there's a lot of rookies in Brit F3 this year, it wouldn't look good if he got beaten by them in the first race of the season! Good result for Clarke aswell, proving the doubters wrong, but what happened in the 2nd race. Good performance by Ryan Lewis in the first race aswell, he was certainly chasing Clarke down in the closing stages. Photos are on my site if you are interested. |

From where we watched the day's events I thought the 2 F3 races were the least entertaining of the lot.....even boring.
However the F3/GT package as a whole is very good and the support races were exciting stuff. |

But pay attention! She gets so much media attention because she's a woman in a man's world, and I think that's absolutely the right thing to happen. And, as another poster has pointed out, getting media coverage to please your sponsors is a sizable proportion of a successful racing career, so she's obviously doing something right. And complete lack of race wins or no, she can drive a car quickly. Whether the nominations for the BRDC award are "positive discrimination" is an issue that could be debated, and I think there may well be a point to be made there in terms of her performance in comparison with some of the other nominees, but on the other hand if it raises the profile of women in motorsport, then, again I say, that's a good thing. What's mildly disappointing is that if they held a BRDC McLaren Autosprout Young Woman Driver of the Year, then she would have won it for the last 3 years at least! |

Well said Mathias! Considering she is still injured i think she did very well and was very quick as the car wasn't that great either. Just a bit of jealousy by a few people in this thread i think.
Generally after the first lap F3 races are extremely boring. just folow the leader. |

I have nothing against Susi, i have met her and she is a very nice girl. However she really does have a lot of experience now and has yet to win anything. Any young guys with such a record would not even have got a second year of Formula Renault, let alone a top F3 drive. And Gaz, as to being jealous, i think i am a little bit to old now for British Formula 3. At the moment club racing suits me just fine, however i do have the resources for something a little more spicey if the mood takes me.

It will be on Channel four next weekend early in the morning (I think). Check listings magazines for details, etc.

According to the Sunday Times Culture magazine it won't be on Saturday, I emailed someone at F3 regarding television coverage but I am yet to get a reply.

Yeah, 7.30am on Sunday it is. Does F3 rate as culture now? I've got some MotorsTV times if anyone's interested.
