Well................
What a meeting !!!! Yet another new hill record Some superb drives in all classes.. The ladies record lowered again Mat Harisson broke the sports libre record but as it was in the run offs it didnt count One or two incidents which were handled very well indeed and I'm sure I speak for the rest of the rescue crew when I say thanks to all marshals involved for their help during those incidents.. One final thankyou.... To the person who left the note reading "To owner This is for marshalls(spelt with 2 l's ) only- Dont be so lazy..." On the windscreen of the silver Hyundai 4x4... A little bit of homework would have told you it is a marshals car... |

Another message of thanks....
A big thankyou to Barry and Jos Goodyear for allowing Jonty to work with you this weekend... It gave him a great sense of purpose and such a buzz to be able to do something worthwhile and he really enjoyed himself.. |

I spoke to Phil the Fuzz later that evening and he was being released from hospital.
He'd like to thank everyone for their assistance in his incident and so would i. Give yourselves a pat on the back. |

Paul's been too modest to point out that he was the only driver to improve on his first run-off time in the second run-off. Peter Cox's lovely 5 litre Chevron also put up a new class record.
A cracking meeting with an excellent flying display by Rob Dean's Spitfire Mk IX. It did get a bit hectic at times - I think at one stage we had a car from a previous incident needing to be moved quickly when it started leaking fuel, Phil's big shunt with air ambulance arrival (and swift departure when it was called away to another incident), an oil slick at Bottom Ess (from Ralph's second visit to the Recticel), a damaged hand from being shut in a car door, and a 4 year old child who'd lost his parents all being dealt with simultaneously! To cap it all, the 4 year old was the nephew of a slightly embarrassed marshal Last edited by Pistonbroke; 21 Aug 2006 at 15:12. |

In the first run-off the sight of the Spitfire racing Simon Durling up the hill, 300 ft apart, was memorable.

Well, I've already posted a huge 'thank you and well done' in the marshals' forum, but well worth repeating it here. Excellent work at all incidents, I consider myself fortunate to be able to rely on such talented and dedicated marshals of all roles. Good stuff, folks.
Paul not only lowered his time, but another personal best, I believe? Really monstered the car into bottom Ess. Chris Merrick joined the 24 club in the morning, Sue Young became the first lady in the 25s, many other great climbs as well. So before everyone beats me to it, the caravan saga, or 'The Clarkson Trophy' entry: Yes, I did do the first 3 miles with the nose wheel down. Having had the caravan on charge for 3 weeks, and the fridge switched on, the ice compartment was solid. I then left the fridge on on the journey, flattening the battery. (Thanks to Jody's mum for the loan of a spare. The candles that were used in the absence of electricity were decorative rather than functional. It was just possible to see the saucepan in order to stir the curry. No, I didn't see the other marshals when I parked over there... The disappearing water has turned out to be a leaking hot water tank. When getting home and parking it 'quickly around the back to sort out tomorrow' we dropped one wheel into the flower bed, resulting in the purchase of a trolley jack today to raise the wheel sufficiently to get a plank underneath to roll it back out. Must try harder! |

well i had a magic time, saw and spoke to lots of people, had lots of fun apart from being a little out of practice on the drinking side of things (trying to find the way out of Billys tent very quickly for fear of being sick on Keven).
The racing was very good, shame about the showers that caught out some drivers, but apart from that it was very good. I never went up the track to watch (fear of seeing the speeds we do i think) but was on the start helping out when i could and it was exciting, but it does realy make me miss it. Deano and Deano jr are home with me for a small break, so being a good friend of mine, i trusted him with my wee Imp, he was away for some time then he went screaming past my house, then about 1/2 hour later there was a phone call (i`ve broke it) he`s a good friend is he. |

That really is nice of him. Never thought Deano would lend his nice shiny Gould GR55B to anyone.
36.48 to beat then Graeme. Get the Scotish Hill's record back to a Scot's man in a Guernsey mans car. Graeme's future is looking brighter! |
