Taking into account that the tyre problem seems to be down to McLaren's setup, like the problem Williams suffered in Turkey, my vote goes to Montoya. He controlled the race from start to finish, in spite of having to fight the left rear in the latter stages of the race. I felt he showed great composure during the race, a trait he isn't widely renowned for.
Pizzonia also did a Sterling job given the circumstances, and he made it clear that both Williams cars were good enough to score points. Last edited by Halsey; 5 Sep 2005 at 14:11. Reason: speeling |

My vote goes to Kimi. With all the poo that Kimi has dealt with, other drivers would have just switched off but not Kimi. With this constant bad luck that he suffers the one thing that has come out of it has been the fantastic display of how good the iceman is.

[QUOTE=JohnSSCWho knows Adam, had he pushed harder perhaps his left rear tyre would have failed sooner and more spectacularly.[/QUOTE]
I have zero doubt of that. It stands to reason that his tire should have failed at a similar time to Kimi's. The only differences were that Kimi had extra weight and was pushing, while JPM was out for a sunday drive. |

Without knowing why both Michelin tyre failures were on McLarens, it's impossible to make statements such as those Snrub. The two incidents may have been unconnected from a McLaren perspective.

Pizzonia. Benefitted from no retirements, and drove a consistent race after about 3 months of no-F1 driving, or so.

I voted for Pizzonia eventhough I don't think I saw him during the TV coverage of the race. Getting points in a Williams ahead of your former team-mate (Webber - the sweet flavour of revenge must be so good to taste. Isn't it Antonio?) after having been called in to race at the last minute in your first GP of the year is worth Hollywood's best scenarios.

I also voted for jungle boy. What a fantastic result for a guy who has not raced for a year.
I was also impressed by Fisi's finish from such a poor starting spot. |

I find Kimi's race performance a bit overrated (No doubts, his qualifying with such a heavy load of fuel was excellent). However, he spun off and went wide during the race; he needed the help of a blue flag erroeneoulsy waved at JV in order to overtake him; etc. No doubts, he had to be aggressive and was most likely unlucky (I am not entirely convinced though that his tyre damage was purely caused by Michelin or some chassis' fault despite Montoya's similar problem). Had it not been for Jungle boy, I would have voted for Montoya or Alonso.
