In those days ,i was always a Ford man,as my father owned from the 1st of the XRs,many GTs.
But what a perfect race car the A9X was ,once set up
The old Coupes were never going to live with a factory A9X with Brock and Shepperd runnning the team.

So far several thoughts /reasons come to mind.

1.How many world class drivers or overseas drivers were in the field.

your memories?
Rob,
19 international drivers in the field. Graeme Lawrence, Andy Rouse and Tim Schenken were entered to drive two Ron-Hodgson entered Triumph Dolomites, but the cars were scratched from the race due to a disagreement between CAMS and Hodgson over eligibility.

My favourite memory was of Johnny Rutherford & Janet Guthrie complaining that their A9X was slow compared to the other Toranas. Bob Morris then hopped into the car and did laps that were 7 seconds quicker than what the Americans were managing!

You once lived in Syd-a-knee Dave??!!

I now have new found respect! (not that there is anything wrong with Northerner's...)
