Toyota #6 out until practice 3. Crash in the test had chassis damage. Also the #5 car is short one driver, Anthony Davidson is out the weekend.

If I were them I'd put all resources towards 2017. They are off the pace and nowhere close in the championship. Maybe they could start trialling 2017 parts in the upcoming races.

316 km/h now in practice 1. 314 km/h for audi and 305 km/h only for toyota. so far the toyotas don't look in too good of a shape on any criteria. but they also do have a tendency to sandbag up until the race. i'm also pretty sure that rebellion always hitting higher trap speeds than any of the hybrid cars on all tracks is due to the fact that the hybrids break much earlier so they're usually already braking when they get to the speed trap. anyway, hard to believe they will be hitting 340/350 in any conditions - btw, the weather report mentions the track status as being dry for both the collective test and the practice session. also, the f1 cars were reaching about the same top speeds as at monza. top speeds at le mans are higher than at monza (i remember the 2008 audis and peugeots doing around 322-324 km/h on retifillo and then 340-345 km/h on the mulsanne). this year's hybrids were under 330 km/h on the mulsanne, so i don't expect any of them to exceed that in mexico.

Rebellion are also carrying less downforce than the factory cars. But even then, they're not much faster than Audi and Porsche in the speed traps.

Lift much earlier? Sure. Brake much earlier? One would hope not. If the factory cars don't have the best efficiency in deceleration, they're doing something wrong.
So, best average speeds for Practice 1: LMP1- 111.0 mph LMP2- 99.5 mph GTE- 95.6 mph I saw in one of the articles on the official site that a few drivers did specifically mention difficulties with traffic crossing their minds. Even more commented on how slow and/or odd the track seemed to them. It's nice to actually see some more tentative or tepid feedback from people in the series. |

There is not much change that we know from TS050 for 2017. only Minor improvement can be expected in my opinion. |

Don't know about that. There's upgrades to the engine and turbos that can be done. Most of the resources this year went to the LM package. Maybe next year they get a bigger budget and with only two body kits there's not much to focus on.

seriously!!
And was just checking to see if Rebellion were still running recycled Peugeot 908 headlamps. Looks like they have finally moved on. Nothing wrong with them doing as such, but it's still funny to see it happen. |

Porsche has purple leds down the middle. Lot smaller than the first gen R18, but they're not too dissimilar.
Practice 2 has run and all hybrid cars are within .9 of a second. |

It looks like chernaudi already mentioned this but we'll assuredly be getting quite a bit of rain on Saturday, with thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. Sad because I (and most everyone else, I hope) would have liked to see this debut go as smoothly as possible but it's unsurprising, really -- September is one of the rainiest months of the year in Mexico City, at least according to this climate data.

Well, earlier you guys were saying the Test Session was the only dry running they'd get all weekend, and lo and behold, two practice sessions have gone through dry.
So, best Practice 2 average speeds: LMP1- 112.2 mph LMP2- 100.8 mph GTE- 95.8 mph We'll see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully, both Toyotas will be out there for Practice 3. |

GTE is only about 5-6 seconds off lmp2 with the same top speeds.

It was about 3.9 seconds in P1, and 4.9 seconds in P2. With the reduced effectiveness of the aerodynamics at altitude, I'd say the LMP2s are particularly suffering from their relative lack of horsepower.

So am I confused or do we get no coverage of FP or Quali on neither RLM nor the live.fiawec.com page?

Even at Le Mans watching the extensive on board stream of the Ford (on youtube still), the LMP2 cars are barely faster on the straight away. Almost the same in tight corners too. It was in the fast sweeping corners (like the Porsche Curves) where the speed differential is bigger.

Looks like this race is going to be another VW group show up front. Toyota's long run pace is considerably off. Unless it rains and they're setup is focused more towards a mix of wet and dry, I don't think they'll challenge for the win.

From Practice 3:
LMP1- 112.7 mph LMP2- 100.7 mph (no improvement from P2) GTE- 96.7 mph Back down to just under four seconds of separation between the fastest LMP2 and GTE. |
