Just a thought for next year. What about trying to organise a similar event for charity at the Autosprout Show, that way you would get more response from the speccies and hopefully make even more money for charity?
I'll have to have a word with a few marshalling mates to see if we can drag a few butts off chairs too |

Are you proposing an 'olf farts race' for us olduns who are bad at running etc and who are used to sitting in the box watching their motor racing?

Hi Red,
If this is a goer, maybe an extra couple of quid on the entry & maybe the teams could raise a bit themselves... I got x per lap for the Willhire last season and pulled in about £500 which I gave to Macdonald House at Alder Hey. Macdonald House provides accomodation for families of sick kids, a place to chill out a bit but be within a minute of the wards if needed, as we were one night last year when Cait was rushed back into intensive care at 3am one morning following a temporary shunt operation... Macdonald House and/or Alder Hey have fundraising offices that can supply sponsorship forms and any assistance needed.. Cheers, Brian Last edited by goforit500; 28 Dec 2003 at 10:21. |

I will go for that one, sounds fun, I am sure we can get a SOM team together. if you guys have six a team, SOM should have 3 - too make it fair!

don't take the pi$$, we had 4 out at donny!
Yes indeed, it is national "Daly Day"! having another over fourty should bring our average age within 10 years of the NW c'ship! |

Having over forty could bring your average grid size within sight of the NW c'ship! As for age, there is no substitute for experience and we do have some OAPs [Oulton Ancient Pilots] in the NW, along with some whippersnappers to keep the old buggers on their toes. and now withdraws before the onslaught begins. |

I like the idea of a marshals' team - it will give us the opportunity to show you drivers what slow really means! (Feb 7th/8th clashes with Oulton Marshal training days) |

I will have the date sorted by tomz mid morning. I like the idea of having it before the BRSCC NW dinner but was hoping it would be before the season starts - maybe Feb?
I will also let everyone know the price after some hard neg with ARDS!!! It would be fun to make it a annual event where the winning championship gets to pick the karting track and the charities to be supported (and do all the organising!!). I would like to give half the profit to Christys Hospital in Manchester as well as Alder Hey Childrens Hospital? I assume that would be okay? |

Redracer, sounds perfect and a lot of fun !.
Can't think of a better way to do something good, while racing. The idea of an anual event and the winning team selecting track/charity is a nice thing, and could raise the profile of club motorsport as your initial thoughts wanted to do (clubff1600). I'll try to sniff around some companies for a prize, or see if they will sponsor any of the teams etc. Mattray - pm's will be sent shortly, and I'd love to race with you and Richard... |

Hi all,
Just heard about this site and from what i have seen looks pretty interesting. I take it that Redracer57 is chris. Nice name! Anyway, the idea of a kart race sounds great. I'd definately be up for it and i'm sure my dad wouldn't mind having a go as well seeing he hasn't been in a race since 97!!!! |

Hi David,
does your dad like to get beaten by his son!!! We look like we will have over 30 teams for the race which should be fun. Just waiting for Malc Barfoot to get back to confirm the price and date. It looks like 6th March is fav but will have to wait and see. Looks like NWFF will have a big entry in the kart race. |

Should be a good day out then and a bit of fun before the season starts.
The only problem in racing with my dad is that if he beats me i'll never hear the end of it and if he races half as good as he talks then i might be a bit worried. Doubt it though!!!! lol |
