I'll be there in spirit (or is that spirits?). Back next year, once the house reno's and family obligations have been completed. Please have a nice glass of dry rosé for me.

Enjoy yourselves, wherever you are.

Hope the weather is better than last year - I acted as a downspout holding up the SC board towards the end!

As we only do Le Mans every 5 years, only 4 more to go.

BTW - great that they sorted out that parking for officials across the road from sign on. Hope for you all that it is still there this year.

As Mr T knows, I'm trying to put together a Google map specifically for marshals. If you want to collaborate on this drop me a PM with your email addy and I'll give you access & editing rights. At the mo I'm not making it public (I think)

Thanks to Mosport circuit's marshal group MMS for the idea.

Oh so that's where we all are!

Looking forward to another year watching the rain falling! For the first sine the arrival of Da Bushe we don't have the graveyard shift. we have the added Buckland this year...Hope wont get to drive the fire car, He'll ask for your Oyster Card!

If Bushe turns up we'll have representation from:
England, Scotland, Mexico, France, Trinidad, Zimbabwe and Bexley!

El Franc as already posted useful phrases, like the Mexican (Spanish) for "You've parked on my tent!" on the Poste 70 web thingy...invaluable.
I'm going to St Pancreas tomorrow to send the Mexicans on their way to France via the drain.

Good work Alistair! Is Post 70 a Hot-Spot?

Good mentions and praise for marshals [and the BMMC] on Eurosport And Steve Tarrant and his "issues" with the ACO previously, but how he is there this year.

TV is "hot" having been on since the warm up this morning.

Oh boy, do I wish I was there????

Why is the weather so nice when it peed it down last year when we were on our 5-yearly trip??????

At least we had good weather in Jersey last weekend...........

To anybody who comes back to read this, just imagine how GREEN I am feeling at the moment. Eurosport and Radio Le Mans (over the internet) just don't quite make up for not being there.

And I am pleased to report that after the difficulties I encountered during the 2007 event, that I have just completed the 2008 event without any difficulties from the ACO. It was certainly a good week, and I even managed to get the night shift completed (2am-4am) before the rain arrived at 4.10am!!!!

Cheers to everyone there that I spoke to, and those that visited the poste out near Arnage.

Here's looking forward to 2009 already!!!!!

Just back from a stag weekend in Le Mans... ... all I can say is I hope Eurosport put together a good highlights programme in a week or two because I didn't see much of the racing...

Anyway, on a serious note, if I wanted to go back to Le Mans in future to marshal, is there a guide anywhere as to how to go about it? I imagine a certain grade or experience is necessary, but is there an official route through the MSA or any of the clubs, or do you have to apply to the ACO directly?

I am a trainee at the moment, about to try and upgrade to a green badge, so it's probably not an option for next year. Doing the LMS at Silverstone in September though and now really looking forward to it.

if you do a search you will find verus threads on marshaling at le mans that will help you out. just got back from another exellent week at le mans had a great time on post 70 with all the usual crowd . have to recomend the new tram system that runs from antares to the centre of le mans it was such an easy way of getting in and out of town and very good value.

Do a search for Le Mans on this forum and all the details will be there, as this question has been answered previously. Get the upgrade and then the world is your oyster.

The biggest boost to getting there is knowing somebody who already does it and who will recommend you. I told you before who the team leaders on Post 70 are. Will remind you next weekend at HSCC if required .
