I was told of one by a mate the other month dating back to the Auscar days at the Thunderdome. A car came into the pits suffering a major ventilation of internals all over the track. The pit reporter asked the crew chief what was going on- "Ahh, it's a routine pit stop mate." Gold

One of my all time favorites was Hans Stuck in the ALMS in 2000. He was driving a BMW M3 and had just beaten the dominant Porsches at Sonoma Raceway. A tightish circuit. When interviewed he said. (Insert German accent here) "Da Porsche is a car for ladies, they only go fast on the straight. We drive fast in da corners"

Classic

Bathurst Driver into 2008, a classic "I can't be bothered to learn the name of a foriegner" moment:

Still, GIOVANARDI didn't seem to bothered about it!

I think it was Peter Williamson at Bathurst after engine failure - " it was electrical, a conrod came out the block and knocked the alternator off it's bracket"

Mika: "Of course I did, I was wearing a helmet"

Actually that might have been the same day as another live TV pearl.

Mark Skaife- "It's ****ing ****ing down"
Mark Oastler- "I think he said it's persistently raining"

A marquee blew across the track and was stuck on the wall at the end of Conrod Straight.

While they weren't one liners, I always used to enjoy the radio chats between Mike Raymond and Dick Johnson during Dick's stints in the car at Bathurst. The bad jokes etc...

Me is thinking that you can take the "2009" out of this thread title. Its a good read, this!

At Oran Park, the hatch from Dick's Sierra, including the rear wing assembly, parted company with the vehicle for some reason or another.

Dick's synopsis of the situation was, "It's handling like a flyswat".

Canberra 400 2001.

After the reverse grid race Skaife marches down to the Lansvale pits to confront Trevor Ashby about an on track nose to tail.

Ashby sees him coming and yells out "hey Mark, another case of misjudgement"

The TV only caught the end of it, but Ashby was interviewed a few days later still chuckling about how it really wound Skaife up.

What about the one-liner from a now former owner of a racing licence?

Is it the same bloke who also said most team owners had sniffed to much petrol to know how to run a successful and profitable race team?

There is another Skaifeism from Canberra, can't remember which year, not the sort of thing that should be typed here though. Listen hard enough to the telecast and you'll hear it, some instruction he wanted passed onto Max Wilson I believe!

Similar to the wording that caused a bit of a stir from Lowndes in Adelaide (that I always thought was attributed to the wrong person?).

Attributing quotes to the wrong people is pretty common 'round here

Speaking of live TV articulations and the 5 minute penalty, what about Greg Murphy screaming something to the effect of "plucking stunts" after coming back from the toilet break.
