The other Scott hits inside wall with his sidepod. Lucky guy!
DeFrancesco goes one better. At least he does some damage to his car |

Herta Jr out of talent or out of patience? Anyway, out of track and out of the race.

That was a good battle with Newgarden and Palou but it all came to an end as Pagenaud goes gardening in the flower bed at the fountain.

JJ ran out of talent again and into the wall again.
This time he scores a bonus point for taking another car with him. |

Jimmie Johnson into the tyre barrier, again and collecting Malukas in the process. FCY.

Another FCY. That's a fitting end.

Congrats to Newgarden. That was a good battle with Grosjean. I thought it might go of the boil, after the Jimmie Johnson's excursion into the tyre wall but no, it carried on until it was Sato's turn to go into the tyre wall.

I was actually able to watch this whole race live, and enjoyed it thoroughly. It started out a bit of a procession, but there was a bit more action later on. Really happy to see O'ward make up six places to finish fifth.
There were a few more incidents than I would like to see, some of them were typical Street course things but others were interesting with people spinning going into corners. Ericsson and herta were tough crashes to watch. I'm wondering how Rahal feels with all that extra push to pass he didn't use? Again the Penske cars seem really strong this year after the tough 2021 campaign. |

Not a huge point considering he crashed out later on in the race but i was surprised nobody on either the American broadcast or the SKY F1 broadcast picked up that Hertas car was slow to be dropped after the fuel was removed.

Herta also tried to go in the wrong pit box, and that is on him. Although thinking back if this race had been green the entire time I don't think anyone would have caught him, the only way people got ahead was in the pits. That has to be a big talking point for the team to get ready for future races |

I thought Rahal was in good shape to make a couple of passes at the end but he didn't get close enough to trying as far as I could see. I wouldn't have thought that he was short on fuel, so perhaps his red tires just weren't up to the task. I was really surprised that nobody followed Dixon into an early pit stop once the fuel window was open for the first stop. That was the strategic call of the race. |

Result:
It is still early days, with only three races run but it's looking like a turnaround season for Penske after last year. Josef Newgarden is top of the driver's table with 118 points, followed by Scott McLaughlin on 113. Will Power is 4th with 102 points, just behind reigning champion Alex Palou on 103. |

A decent show with an anticlimactic finish.
Josef's on a tear. Good to see Romain getting up there. And congrats to Simon P.; never seen anyone put it the flowers around the fountain before. |

Yeah but they had guys divebombing, doors stove in and general stupidity and mayhem. And that's after a large number of true Ams decided to skip the event due to the hard cap on the field. Haven't seen an Indy car do it, think WC back in the day ended up with a few cars in the flowers as well but again, WC drivers so.....

Somewhat serious question, has Dallara had to open a second shift to make enough parts for Jimmy's car?
