The story of Thruxton is Tom Onsloe Cole... an incredible performance with that Golf. I really hope they can convert that into something special over the weekend. It would be fantastic to see a true privateer effort do well.

On the other end of the scale are the NGTC cars. Frank Wrathall and Rob Austin... both extremely capable pilots [and deserving of a lot better]... circa 5 seconds off the pace ! That's just downright ridiculous and goodness knows what the people at GPR are doing... on the evidence it would appear diddly squat !

Wrathall was turning some good times in FP1, up in 14th and around 2s off the outright pace. Not compared the times to see if it was the quick going quicker or the slow going slower though!

A little of both. Wrathall was a second a lap slower in qualifying compared to FP1 whilst the leading cars were 1.5 sec quicker. Despite the slower times he was nearly 5mph quicker through the speed traps compared to FP1.

With regards to the Audi I know it's still early days but I don't see it making much progress any time soon. The handling looked all over the place. No disrespect to Rob but by his own admission he has no touring car experience and this is a very different animal to anything he has previously driven so maybe he has no point of reference in terms of set-up.

Yep, he needs to get an experienced driver in there, perhaps someone of the Antony Reid type of mold.

The Hondas are very quick today. Andrew Jordan was able to hold 3rd and keep his run of podiums up. TOC dropped back but still had race-pace. Plato had a tyre faliure which put him into the wall, then moaned again about the turbos. Tom Boardman ran well too.

Neal, Jordan and Shedden 1,2,3 in race two. But...

Official BTCC Facebook -
Andrew Jordan has been demoted to third place for "gaining an unfair advantage", gifting Honda Racing Team a one-two finish. This means Jordan is now fourth in the drivers' standings and that he will start this afternoon's third race from seventh place.

Plato wins the final round of the day which is a relief to get some kind of return from the lows of today and donington. Mind you, he has only picked up 19 or so points in the last 6 races! Nice to see Jackson on the podium again, but also Tom Boardman with his first ever btcc podium!

That was much better than Donington. Very clean racing, although it seemed fairly difficult to pass, even approaching the chicane. Some great moves at the complex though.

MacDowall running into the back of Collard seemed to be the only stupid move of the weekend, he seemed to try and nip up the inside even though he was neither alongside or nor had a gap to go for.

And well done to Boardman, he's been very quick all season but things haven't gone his way until now. Let's hope he can get a few more results like this.

Agreed, the racing was much better with little contact which made for a good days racing.

The only complaint was Plato and his moaning about the turbo's, which in race 3 didn't seem to have any effect on him at all.

Wasn't moaning then was he

The audi was on the track for race one. The team then had some kind of problem which meant they missed race 2. I'm not sure about race 3 though.
