If the ground's saturated, it might not take much to flood parts of the track. Remember that the '07 ALMS race almost got red flagged and was under yellow for almost an hour because of heavy rain.
If the ground can't hold anymore water, a decent thunderstorm could cause the track to flood in low areas. |

Nice to see under certain wet/tire conditions the GTLM's can get up in the overall top 5 for brief periods at least.
I wish the DPI/Gibson engines did not have so much horsepower, then we could get more of that. |

Power is nothing without control, as Pirelli says in their ads (ironic given the junk tires they use in F1 and to a lesser extent, SRO GT). DP's had 600+bhp at Road Atlanta in '15, but they couldn't keep it on the road. Of course, the then contemporary Conti Prototype rain tires were just junk. Michelin's better rain tires on GT cars had a lot to answer for that day. One would hope that Continental learned their lesson on that one and the current LMP2-based cars seem to be a better match for that much power.
And I know that the first session was held in mixed conditions, but that's has to be encouraging for VFR, and Ligier, now that they do have a car with an all-pro driver line up. Probably does go to show what most of us already know or accepted, that the basic Riley was just horrible. |

Just checked the weather for Elkhart Lake, and there's a good chance of rain tomorrow and Sunday.

About half second covering the top 5 in P. Looks like it could be really close.

Sunday is going to be wet from start to finish. We've had a metric boatload of rain, but, flooding shouldn't be an issue. The base of the track is mostly sand/gravel/limestone and other permeable soils. Not much clay to be found. It may pond, but it'll drain. |

Looked more than slightly wet the last few days. Slight chance of rain this afternoon and hopefully that doesn't come so it dries out a little. If the ground is fairly saturated, maybe hard for it to take much more.
Sunday is certainly going be wet at some point. Just don't need any long durations or downpours to be okay. |

Okay ... so BoP is giving Ford some love and hurting Corvette ... because IMSA knows the Vette fans turn out en masse for Petit. Corvette will get an "adjustment" for Petiti so it can win the last race of the season ... but it has to let some other cars win first.

The track just seems to suit the Ford really well. There wasn't that big of a BoP change.

Ed Carpenter Racing from IndyCar ... and Chip Ganassi Racing in a non-Ford? That would spice up DPi a bit.

PC is such a waste of time in qualifying. 3 seconds and 5 second from the first of the 3 cars. Such a long amount of time for just 3 cars. At least they'll be gone next year.

Assuming that every session yesterday was wet, Ricky has just laid down the fastest time of the weekend at 153:058.

Doesn't help that IMSA intentionally made the cars hard to drive with a ride-height increase and a TC system that doesn't work--and did so in a pro-am class.
IMO, I think the class stayed around to give Oreca's NA operation something to do, but they now have LMP2 cars and bigger fish to fry. Time for the class to fade away. |

You'd almost think Ricky Taylor's time was a timing error ...

Strange to see Ricky and the 10 staying on track at pace...
Would've thought they'd be satisfied and comfy at this point. Edit: They came in this lap |

Wasn't really that close (for pole). I thought it would be going by practice times. No one but Taylor even broke into the 53's, which is odd because one of the ESM's did it in P3. Could be the drivers though.
