1.6 Chevron-Ford BDA B42-78-14/B48 This was the ex Ray Rowan/Stuart Ridge car. Not sure who David Seaton bought it from but it went in part/ex for the Pilbeam he bought from John Garnett and Garnett sold it on to Amos. |

B34-76-29 is the car used by Rupert Keegan to win the 1976 BP Championship. It was sold at the end of 1976 by the Hawke factory to David Brotherston who campaigned it in F3 up until 1980. It then appeared in the ARP Classic F3 Series campaigned successfully by Alistair Ferguson very much in its original state. I purchased the car earlier this year from him though it had been laid up for at least 10 years. It is currently undergoing a chassis up rebuild and will return to the Classic F3 series in 2008 in its original BAF livery. Authenticity of this car and chassis has recently been confirmed by David Brotherston who has great memories of the car.

Can anyone help - I've got hold of a B34 that was driven in SE Asia some time in the mid-late seventies by a malaysian guy called Poturella (i think it's spelled like that), apparently it did most or all of it's racing in Asia. Unfortunately the chassis plate has been 'mislaid' - does anyone know anything about this car or help to trace the chassis number?

Could you mean Pocholo Ramirez? Real name Jose del Rosario Ramirez, he's still racing in the Philippines.

Is this the B34 that was for sale on race-cars.com?
There were at least three B34s that made their way to SE Asia, all ex Opert cars 34-76-20 went to Del Schloemer by 1979 [don't know where it was 1977-78] then to Amir Mokhtar in early 80s 34-76-21 went to Pocholo Ramirez in 1977 and he still had it in 1983 34-76-25 went to Jov Marcello, 1977 then to Narcisco de la Merced and Luis Camus Like Drifty says, there ought to be a stamping somewhere on the tub Chris |

There's no marks on the tub that I can find but the original owner was definitely Pocholo Ramirez so I'm guessing its chassis 21? Anyone know any more about the history of it? Would it have run as an F2 or FA car?

How did you determine that the original owner was Pocholo Ramirez?

If Ramirez's car then it's ex Opert rental car from 1976, then used by Eddie Marcello in the 1976 Philippines GP.
Would have run only as an Atlantic. B34 was an F3/Atlantic chassis. Chris |

It was built up from a tub of a B39 so would technically be nearer to a B40 as an F2 |

Richard Parsons B34 Atlantic was red. It was described as being ex Geoff Lees F3. When Richard bought it in early '77 in England he took it straight to Mallory for a race meeting. The car was still fitted with the F3 Mk.9 box so needless to say there wasn't much left of it by the end of the day although I think he finished top 5 despite a box full of trash. He promptly fitted an FT200 on returning to N.Ireland. I think the FT200 internals came out of John Ledlie's written off B29 (Phoenix Park) which was lying in Bill Gowdys garage at the time. Don't know where the FT casing came from. The B34 held joint lap records at Kirkistown and Pheonix Park along with Billy Gowdy (Ralt RT1) and Harold McGarrity (B39). It won 7 Northern Ireland Hillclimb Championships and was eventually sold to George Ritchie in Scotland who I believe modified the cars fuel tank for hillclimbing and upped it to an 1800. The B34 definitely had a chassis plate as I cleaned the car often enough! Memory too bad these days to remember the number though! As to the B34's current whereabouts I have no idea.
There were definitely no other B34's in Ireland. |

Fenton, do you mean Richard bought it in early 79, not 77. I saw him out in it in March 79 at the first FAt meeting that year at Mallory. I can't recall him in it in early 77 there??? As you say, he went v well in it at that meeting, very very wet indeed, and won by Alo L.

Bernard Juchli races this 1976 Chevron B34. At Portland, he said it was ex-Brown.

As I wade my way through this site I keep stumbling onto threads that I may or may not have something to contribute.
So it is with this thread. In my Formula Atlantic set I have uploaded at least two snaps that may be of two of the cars discussed here. I may have misappropriately disidenitified them chassis-wise. I say may because it's late, I need my beauty rest and I've just expended gobs of old man energy getting the Tiga Formula Atlantic thread back on track and I don't have time to fix my errors if indeed they are errors. So have at it folks! I'll stand corrected if need be. http://www.flickr.com/photos/4668198...7623186773769/ |

Info and Pictures wanted
I have recently purchased chassis b34 76 03 and it currently being stripped and rebuilt. From what i understand it is the ex Bill Brack (Killarney Cape Town) and then Guy Tunmer car.
I'm looking to build a complete history as well as searching for pictures of the car particularly in the 1976 series as the idea is to restore it to period correct livery and specification. |

B34 Amir Mokhtar
Spotted this rather sad B34 when filling my car up with petrol in Malaysia earlier this week.
From an earlier thread it would appear to be chassis nr 20 as driven by Amir Mokhtar but I couldn't get any closer to verify. Any info on the history of this car and/or photo's would be appreciated. Thx Martin |
