That little pond at Amaroo Park contained a Formula Vee at one point so rumour has it... it would have been a death trap if you went in with belts on... especially since it took on a chocolate brown appearance most of the time... sombody probably has a swimming pool in that same spot right now... Sigh!!
I wonder what would happen if a car hit one of those concrete walls at the AGP at Albert Park hard enough to shift it into that little 'coloured' lake... love the lifting in and out of the boats down there too... very Monaco-esque

Actually, via Darlington Park! At one stage, the lake on the inside of the first turn held a brand spanking new BMW, which went in upside down with 4 big blokes aboard...

Yes, Marcus, ESPN and ABC will televise the IRL races this year. You can get a broadcast schedule at www.indyracing.com. Do you get ABC also?

no we dont get ABC as such , but we have what is called Fox sports who usually dont have a contract wiht one particular station and pick up dribs and drabs from all over the world.
Im pretty sure that we will get the ESPN coverage again this year , well we better anyway!!!!!!!!!! |

well kids by my calculations its only 44 SLEEPS til the start of the season. thank god! it doesnt seem that long when you put it in days. i think im probably going to make it!

Okay, got an answer from the IRL office about TV for those of you in Australia.
Something called Network 10 is carrying all the IndyCar Series races live for '03. Whatever it be, hope y'all can get it! |

hmmmmmmmmm , interesting, sadly I dont think channel 10 will be covering the races they may show the 500 but thats about it, they have way to much motorsport on their hands already to add another full series , and it definately wouldnt be live, but ya never know.
last night I saw an add on ESPN saying they will be showing the series so if ya have cable down here in oz you will definately get it. indycool I believe channel 10 may hold the rights but thats just a way to keep any other channels hands off it I think but thanks for ya efforts , we will wait and see |

i seem to remember 10 airing live races last year. or maybe they just played them late at night so it would seem like they were live! i caught a few CART races, wouldve been between 12-3am.

regardless, i figured the only way to go really is to get cable put on, i dont want to miss anything! it will be switched on well before the season starts.

i would suggest just get it, the more channels the better. (except for those incredibly frustrating moments when you have 50 channels and theres STILL nothing on!) better safe than sorry, plus theres so many more things on ESPN to keep you entertained between races...

The full package is somewhere close to $80 per month, which gets expensive unless you have the time to watch it all I suppose. Its a child arrester, plop them in front of the Cartoon Central station and they get transfixed...

but you dont really need it all, you get pretty much all the channels worth having in the basic packages (with a couple of exceptions like espn and world movies). you can also get a foxtel/optus combined package now, even more channels! i def think theres such thing as having too many.

Is the Indy 500 on pay-pre-view or part of the standard package? I was in the US a few year ago and in the hotel where I was they had cable but we watched the race in a function room as the basic package didnt include the race. This was in Texas if that means anything..
I should get you to tape the races for me Jenna

no it will be in the package that comes with ESPN, mainly only boxing matches music concerts and things like that are pay per view.

Marcus, Jenna, GTR Magic, et., al, that was the answer I got when I called. I had called for someone in Brazil about a month ago and there were similar questions in that country.
Would be interested to know -- one of you suggested calling Network 10 down there to see -- what you find out, so if that's not true, I can take it back to them and say, "Whoa! What's going on?" |
