Get well soon Marcus I hadn't realised it was such a big accident I saw the car was pretty bashed up on the trailer but I didn't realise it had injured you to such an extent.

Also, I managed to share pit garage 8 the whole of Sunday without connecting 'Rudolf from Hamburg' with the Tenths forum poster and famous character R. Ernst... Rudolf, my apologies ! The Chevy went well for the Historic Road Sports race at 5.30 and against all the odds we got a 20 minute race before the noise curfew closed in. I got a much better grid position in the wet Practise, the Camaro's traction winning out over cars that would beat me in the dry race. Another season over .... roll on Donington in April 2017, my 26th year racing. Nick |

Marcus has been putting some typically upbeat posts on Facebook.
Iain immediately offered his services to drive Marcus back to Monaco and the Historic FF2000 camper is at his disposal for the journey back. I was in the assembly area when Marcus had his accident. I only saw the last moments but there were at least two big hits, judging from the sound, leaving a lot of debris on the track. There was torrential rain at the time and I think he aquaplaned on the standing water, just after the bridge on the Wellington Straight. The marshals and medical team took their time extracting him from the car and I have to say that the whole rescue and recovery operation looked extremely well-drilled. As others have said - get well soon Marcus and we all hope to see you out next year. |

I have been very very wary of the bridge on Wellington straight in the rain
ever since a friend of mine spun into one of the abutments a few years ago and hurt his back quite severely water collects under and near the bridge of all places in my mind: THE most dangerous spot now on the Silverstone National Circuit now that Woodcote has been reprofiled Rudolf |

I too hope Marcus has a speedy recovery and join the thanks to the marshals, medics and rescue personal that attended. The weather on Sunday morning was filthy and I was surprised the HTCs managed to stay mostly on the track.
Now I'm back home I will post a few photos over the next few days. |

Lying on my back at the IM2S clinic in Monaco, sea view. I would like to thank you all for your wishes, those I know and those I dont. I lost control on the straight, the car just went on opposite lock and I was a passenger. I hit the guardrail having crossed bits of grass and tarmac, nothing would stop the car. Boom!
I had my Simpson Hybrid which saved my life and have no damage to upper back and neck. the seat harness held my hips firmly in place - the problem was in between and i could feel my spine bending the wrong way and then back again. have damaged to L2 vertbrae which is the small of the back. Marshalls and medical staff at Silverstone were first class and it was the right circuit to have such an accident! I was then carted off to Coventry but on the way they decided to take me to Northampton. I had an IRM scan there which was discussed with the spine specialist in Coventry and they decided the back could repair itself. My ankle was stabilised and fixed in position on Monday. Luckily my licence incudes repatriation and this was done on Friday with a King Air out of Coventry straight to Nice and then ambulance to the IM2S, which is specialised in bones. The operation to pin the ankle is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday and I will be let out beginning of next week. I haveto stay in a corset for a while to let the back heal, but hope not to be too immobilized as I need to get back to work. Anyway the first injury in almost 50 years of racing. have to and be washed - best moment of the day! See you all next year |

A couple of years ago I mentioned on-site that I would be at Silverstone for an HSCC Meeting, (with camera) and would look out for any Tenner who might be racing. Amongst those to reply was a certain Marcus Mussa who would like pictures of himself in his F3(?) car. Come the race I stood there with camera poised trying to spot our hero in the pack, when coasting off track, and stopping right in front of me was the man himself, enabling me to get several decent shots of man and car.
I would not wish to presume too much but I do wonder if Marcus will anything to attract attention to himself, although this latest incident does seem to be gong a little too far. Pleased to hear you are on the mend Marcus, look forward to seeing you around in 2017. Very best wishes, Bauble aka Bob. |
