What I read into that creative announcement is "we're looking for money to run '05. We haven't got the Herdez money any more." If they find it, they run.

I read it as you indycool with the addition of; "we beleive we have the situation in hand, however, we have yet to sign any contracts and we're glad Herdez gave us an early heads up."

That's a fair summary.

Question:
With Mexico being such a solid market for OWRS, why on Earth would Herdez want to cut back or pull the plug on their involvement as a sponsor???? Sorry to ask this, but doesn't that seem strange to anyone on this Forum??? I'm not going to speculate or infer anything into this.... But if there is such a strong connection between Mexican race fans and the OWRS, wouldn't that make the series an ideal marketing tool for Herdez, and wouldn't they want that exposure and such to continue??? |

It may well be that they feel that the racing sponsorship has acheived its aims.

That's kinda what they said. What Liz said earlier in the thread about one owner-brother wanting to get into golf sponsorship and the other wanting to stick with racing seems to be the explanation....the racing brother lost.
In answer to Tim's thought, though, there might be a proposal on their desk that enhances the golf aspect as being stronger bang for the buck than OWRS is right now.....remember Tecate scaled back. |

OWRS are turning very strognly to Mexico, but how big is their audience? Maybe Fernandez switching and Jourdain fading down the order has hurt them. Either that or they feel that people don't notice the name as much now that the team has been competitive for 2 years.
