Had a look at a few, most that sold seemed to be pretty good buying but not 'steals', fair prices overall compared with what I would expect. Some passed-in cars you would have thought would get the money asked, some appeared priced too high.

Re the Audi - did that car have the same sort of development as KP's Nissan GT-R? That would be interesting, the quote from KB regarding horsepower "telephone numbers" has stuck with me.

Torana A9x was highly modified, running huge simmons wheels & tyres instead of the factory 6 inch steelies they came out with!
They liked the way it handled! Yeah would they like it with the skinny factory wheels & tyres?

Chances are they would, there is a difference between grip & handling. It helps of course that the A9X had the benefit of ~6 years development over the cars in positions 2-4!

Should mention the owner donated the money from the car to charity, quite a gesture. Also a pretty good price for the car, a bargain really. Not sure how long you would be able to get them for this type of price. Only a couple of years ago it would have been 2-2.5 times as much.

The Falcon GT HO is the most expensive Australian muscle car. In 2007, a Falcon GT HO collector paid a whopping $750,000 .
But it's not just any Falcon, it's one of a limited number of specially-built road cars modified for use on a race track a GTHO Phase III. Just 300 such Falcons were made in the early 1970s but experts believe fewer than 100 remain.

Over the next two (2) weeks two Phase 3s come up for auction:
On Sunday May 16, one such example of the Falcon GT HO will go under the hammer, with an expected price of up to $500,000.

In what will be a test of the resilience of the auction market for rare and exotic vehicles, Aaron Muir, auctioneer for Complete Auctions in western Sydney, says the Phase 3 GT HO muscle car is likely to sell for more than $450,000.

"If it reaches $425,000 to $450,000 it's out the door," says Muir. "It will get a fair market value on what it's going to bring."

The description of the car on the Complete Auctions website admits the car is not in show condition as its wearing a few battle scars here and there. It does say, however, that if "you require history with grunt as it was in 1975 this is a must have".

The GT HO has just 24,000 miles on the speedo, and for your half-a-mill it doesn't even come with rego.

Later in the month another 1971 Ford XY Falcon GT HO Phase 3 is set to go up for auction at the Shannons Melbourne Winter Classic Auction on May 31.
Shannons has set a rather cautious range estimate of $260,000-$320,000, which could easily blow out if some serious cashed-up collectors show up on the day.

Australian basketballer Andrew Bogut was doing on Monday night when he turned up to bid at the auction of the most expensive Australian-made car in history.

The vehicle in question - a 2002 HRT 427 Coupe - one of only two ever made, sold two years ago for a whopping $920,000.

It had no log book, no owner's manual, not even a spare key, and with a top speed of 299km/h it can't be registered in NSW.

Not that it mattered much to Bogut, who is based in the US on a five-year, $75 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks NBA team. The 25-year-old pushed bidding to $305,000, but the car was passed in after it failed to meet reserve.

That sale had a whole heap of cars including many from the last decade with nominal mileage only, some sold for a reasonable price, some surprisingly high (to me at least) and some quite cheaply. Just over $1m all told, but the creditors will be owed a lot more than that.
