The bumper design leads me to think it's the GT2 car.

Good to see RAM coming back to Dubai. Two points to make from this:
1. Was it just a case of RAM biting off more they can chew with the WEC ambitions? 2. What is up with the Mercedes SLS being so popular for the 24 hours of Dubai. That is certainly the weapon of choice. They make up half the GT3 cars in the field this year. No complaining though. It is an awesome car. |

I believe that SLS can simply stand long races more easily than other. It is battle-proven.

@J Jay
The SLS having great straight-line speed is somewhat overpowered. Of course, I wonder if Mercedes-Benz will retain that advantage when they make the SLC? |

My reply was half-joking but I agree with you - it's the "easiest" way to make lap time, especially for amateur drivers. That's not to say it's bad at braking, handling, aero, etc. (because it's clearly quite good at these) but it takes more skill to get pace out of those than it does to get pace from the loud pedal.
It would be prudent for them to follow the same design principles when it comes to the SLC GT3. |

Definitely in GT3: the Dubai 24 last year was the first big enduro win for the 997 GT3R I believe.

Manthey won the 24h Nürburgring several times with the 911 GT3.

Looking forward to catching as much as possible of this today. I could get used to being able to listen to this much live motorsport at the office: Janner Rally on ERC Radio Monday and Tuesday and Dubainsince Wednesday. Next week is going to be dull! |

Managed to get a well-timed day off so looking forward to settling in and watching this. The race might be 10 years old and have free entry but there's still only about 50 people in the grandstand.

The Middle Eastern race attendance is perplexing. Maybe our culture is used to races being for the masses...there it could be high end luxury? I remember the 2014 WEC attendance figures from the Toyota thread that showed Bahrain being 4000 for 2013 and 4000 for 2014. Makes me wonder if they cap the tickets sold, or only sell them to select members of society.
Anyway, I've tried opening the 24HSeries website, and got nothing. Is there a different stream to have? Edit: Nvm, got it going. Nothing would open for 20 minutes. |

Good coverage this year, they just need a couple more cameras.

Yeah agreed with that. They should also be commended for doing 24 hour coverage.
Relatively interesting race so far. Already some high-profile cars with issues. #3 Black Falcon SLS, #12 Fach Auto Porsche, #1 Stadler Porsche (defending champs) already lost their chance to win. Quite a few more bent Mercs. |

I have not been able to watch any of the coverage yet, I will be tuning in later.
However I have been watching the live T&S (which is one of the best I have seen) and this appear to be turning into a very interesting motor race. Let hope it carries on for the next 18 hours. |

Just got in to find out that there's streaming of the full race - yet again, well done Creventic.
Shaping up to be a quite intriguing race. Have there been any noteworthy incidents not covered by reports/T&S? |
